Installing new engine sprocket shaft seal. 2011 TC. I have the tool. Manual says letters up. Seal has no letters. Seal has lip and garter spring both sides. So does it really matter which way it faces. It's been awhile.
Thanks

Spring on both sides but no letters? Look even more closely and if 100% certain there are no letters then should it matter?

You are correct! The manual does not help with your "letter less" seal.

We're all A-holes. It's to what degree that makes us different.

Post a few photos of the seal. Seeing it may allow someone to make a suggestion as to the orientation of the seal.

I already just installed.
Took and did a little digging and found a couple posts who say, with a double lip seal, it doesn't matter. That's what I figured. So I installed it the same as the old one.
Just a little OCD on my part. Don't know much history of this bike. Who had their hands on it

Make sure to inspect the sprocket shaft spacer for any wear. With a double seal, you need to make sure the spacer, if worn isn't touching either seal lip.

The old spacer is shot. New one is on order.
Thanks
