I am having a machine gun miss for about 2 or 3 seconds at 3000 rpm. I have changed the coil, wires,  and plugs. I have checked my kill switch and ignition switch. The hi-4 is about 7 years old and has about 35,000 miles on it. Has anyone had problems with the hi-4 or is there anyway to check it?

If it installs in the nose cone?  I would just replace it.  DTT is a good option.

What kind of bike? I have seen the dash on softails push on the ignition switch and cause the problem you are having.

Funny you should ask this question.  I fixed a problem exactly like this tonight.  I went straight to the kill switch and replaced it.  Doesn't matter that it tells me it's ok when I tested it with a meter.  I found that if I held the switch in the "on" position while at high RPM the miss would go away.  As soon as I let go it would return.  I belive the contacts start bouncing around as the revs come up due to vibration.  As the switch gets older, the spring pressure doesn't hold it as tight and the connection is momentarily interrupted at higher revs.  Replacing the switch fixed the problem.

Use a jumper wire to by-pass the kill switch to test it.
