Not sure if somethings defective...Evolution motor, Late style flywheels (don't know the year, its HOH cases, but when its at TDC, the line is in the window) Crane Hi4 ignition.

When I try and static time it, I bring the line into the window. I do get an air puff on the front cylinder, so I have determined I am on TDC front cylinder, on Compression stroke. According to the directions for the Hi4 that I downloaded, I should now be able to turn the timing plate clockwise until it goes out and be close enough to start it.

Problem, the timing LED just never goes out for the entire range of movement on the timing plate.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Craig

I had the same thing happen with a DTT unit. I just kept turning it back and fourth till the light went out. It took a few minutes but it eventually went out. Mine was a new unit.

Thanks! I will give it another go tomorrow...I am thinking I will try one more revolution on the flywheel as well.

Make sure the kill switch is in the run position
Beat it to fit, paint it to match

yup, kill switch must be in 'RUN' .... you have to have voltage to the ignition, key on, tdc

the compu-fire setup comes with a magnet, you put the magnet up to the nose cone unit to thun the light off, or on, then rotate the base plate .... works real well..... yeah set the base plate to full retard, then turn the light off, if it's on, using the magnet, then rotate the base plate til the light JUST COMES ON ..... I run it 2-3 times to see if I come to the same place each time .... lock it down. I've never had a problem with it.
