Wouldn't just taking the fob off your keychain do the same thing?  What do you gain by switching modules that you don't have by just not using the alarm system?  I have an alarm system like most do................never use it.  Just don't have the fob on my keychain either and so it's never an issue.............just wondering.

Just a guess. Does your wife have both fobs?  :teeth:

Just curious.  Why would one NOT want to use the security system?

Kinda seems like not using the remote lock on my truck.

Depends on the year bike. the new systems, 2007 and later IIRC, are passive. No button to push when you walk away from the bike it arms, when you walk up ti the bike it disarms.

I had a lady who wanted to get rid of it also. I permanently mounted the fod/transmittier under the seat of her softail. the fobs always near the bike so the system never arms.

2005 bought used--appreciate all responce--1st thing battery was discharging quickly[ battery would recharge and test good but if i did not ride for 3 or 4 weeks it would turn over very slow]--bought new battery and when installing the current draw was amazing for a carb bike with nothing on, big arc when attaching cable..read all 30 pages in electrial service manual on system--i am not sure system is ever truly disconnected from bike systems--i am guessing that there should be no current draw for a carb bike at rest unless there is a computer module that has to stay powered all the time[ carb bike?] i am guessing tssm in order to maintain contact with fob has to stay powered?. i dont really wont to have to learn the trouble shooting pages of manual [ on kiss system since retiring from service work--keep it simple stupid-- ] just walking around with fob in pocket if button is pushed much it will loose ability to talk to bike until you reprogram.. the tsm can only stop blinker function, but it is also bank angle sensor[ fall over motor stops ] like a mercury switch i guess.. [simple].  tsm/tssm can cause no start no run if you dont treat it right and it eats batteries, i guess. draw back--tsm is over a $100.00. tsm/tssm is 3 times that. wonder if tssm and fobs would sell on e-bay if i remove from bike. seems like shop manual says you cant change personal code without purchasing new. problem for purchaser. ride safe

They'd sell on eBay, no problem.

Not true, check this link => how to figure out tssm number on used bike

replacing tsm/tssm module is not exactly plug and ride. it is plug and take bike to dealer because it wont start until dealer service gives it a formal introduction to bikes system at somewhere around 30 t0 60 minutes labor charge. went to buy tsm at dealer today and was told this news..looks like a couple hundred to remove security..tsm+reboot or whatever they do--maybe this info will help someone else considering this also this system is different from year to year..safe riding--

Once again, another case of a dealer screwing you over.

If you are removing a TSSM and just putting in a TSM, that is a simple plug-n-play.
If you are removing a TSM and putting in a TSSM, then there is a simple 40 minute process that is needed to marry the TSSM to the ECM. Not hard to do at all, and the process is readily available online.

So on my 01 carbed FLSTF, I can remove my tssm and just plug a tsm into the plug and there for I will not need my key fob. Or is it still used. Thanks!!!!

I replaced my bad TSSM with a new one a couple of years ago. It wasn't a problem. Just a lot of steps to marry to the ECM.
