A friend of mine has a 2000 Ultra Classic, fuel injected; he and several others were riding to Little Sturgis, KY.  And His bike died waiting while waiting in road construction; it restarts after a few minuets. The Air Temperature gauge only read 100. It’s done it several times this weekend, dies but always restarts. No problem as long as he can keep moving, only when he is setting still for a few minuets, there are no error code showing.

If it doesn’t throw a code could it be in the ECM?
I have a 2004 Electrical Diagnostic manual for Touring Models,
Does the 2000 Electric Glide use for the most part the same ECM?
Will the information in the 2004 Manual apply to the 2000?
Question, does this Bike have an Air Temperature sensor?

Thanks

Herman, can't help you with most of your questions, but the 2000 has a MM fuel injection. 2002 and up is Delphi fuel injection. Your manual will be of no use. Hopefully someone else in here can give you some ideas. Anyway-here's a bump

Can he keep the engine running if he helps with the throttle? This does sound like it is a temperature sensitive problem that will most likely get worse until the bike will not restart. Then it will be relatively easy to diagnose by a mechanic with the right tools.
Bank angle sensors have been known to cause problems but the ignition switch must be cycled off-on before the engine will restart. It will crank but not start till the ignition has been cycled.

Really hard to diagnose over the internet especially when the info comes third party without any history of the bike.
Good luck,

There was a recall on some of the 2000 -2001 that replaced the 40 amp main circuit breaker with a 50 amp breaker.

I can almost guarantee that it's the main circuit breaker; sometimes they'll do this in start/stop traffic when it's hot out. The solution is probably to cool the bike, although you could replace the breaker as well.

Do you think its Electrical or Gas? If its gas, it could be a crack in gasline
inside your gas tank. Acts just like my 2000 ultra a couple years ago!

My 2000 Ultra did the same thing 2 weeks ago  104 out  that day.
I was able to pull the seat and listen to it trip and reset I bypassed the CB to make it home.
It was the CB
Harley did have recall on the CB to change to a 50 AMP. but was uncomfterble putting that big of a CB in there concidering the ALternator only puts out about 45 amps I went to an auto parts store and replaced it with a 40 Amp again. and will keep the 50 in the saddle bags

I beleive they changed from a breaker to a maxi fuse setup.

I've had breaker problems on my Heritage at least twice...
