Anybody use the Coleman self-inflating camping pad? Was thinking about it as you don't need a pump and it doesn't take up alot of room. Their about $30. Are they worth the money. I have a queen size inflatable mattress but its bulky and with the pump it takes up more room. thanks

seattledyna

they are a bit better than sleeping on the ground, but nice that there is no inflating...just roll it out and wait awhile

I use a $2.00 pool float (air matteress) from wal-mart...

Yes I have used one. I prefer it to a cheap air mattress, but do not expect miracles. It will get you through a week at Sturgis in some measure of comfort, but it helps if you use it with a measure of beer in your belly. Never used mine sober so I may not be the best judge! Ride sober...........

I have a couple, but different brands.  If it doesnt fluff up enough, you can blow a little more air into them to help.  Sometimes mine take too long for the internal foam to decompress and fully inflate, so I blow them up with my abundant hot air.  lol  Hey it works.

I use a coleman twin air mattress, 20 bucks at wally world. I got the coleman QuickPump, uses 4 D batteries and  puts plenty of air in it, the best part is the pump has a reverse, switch the nozzle, hit the switch and it pulls all the air out fast. :soda:

I used one for one night, might as well have slept on the ground.  Took it back the next day and exchanged for a Coleman air mattress.

Alrighty  then. .  .
Am  thinking  opinions on  the Coleman  has  alot  to  due  to  "How much  ya  weigh"  "age?"
Do  NOT  mean  this  as  a  smartass  answer.

When  I used  mine  real  regular,  I  was  in  my  late  40's-early 50's,  also  was  about  140 pounds.

I haven't  used  it  in  about 4ish  years  and  am a  bit  older  than  the  last  time ~n~several  pounds  more.
Would  it be  as do-able  now,  don't  know.  Maybe  I  oughta throw it on the floor  in the  next couple  days ~n~try  it !  (part a lil  smartyass/part  just  fact). . .  prolly  a  good idea  since  was  thinking  of  taking  it  when  I  go  west in  Sept. . ..

Tomorrow  I got  alot  of  stuff to do, need  a good nites  sleep.  Thur  ain't  got  a  lot  on  my  schedual,  so  I  will  pop  it  on  the floor WED  night~n~ get  back  to ya with  a  review since  am  older ~n~ larger.

A tad pricy but Therma Rest self inflating the best I've used. Years ago started with a thin half one. Now that we are old and creaky we use the 3 in deep/ long  ones.
very light, roll up pretty small, I'm guessing 7 in diameter and 24 in. long. wingie

At 69 years of age, I ain't exactly young anymore. I've been using Thermarest self-inflating pads for over 20 years. And I do a considerable # of bike trips. Always get a good night's sleep with one of them as does the wife. At 6'4" and 220, I'm not exactly a lightweight either. I've even used them when visiting in-laws to sleep on the floor if the bed is too short for me. I've also used mine on concrete picnic tables when we wound up stuck in the middle of nowhere at a rest area with no campgrounds around.

Works fine for me.

02 Ultra

Ditto what Ed said except I am a little smaller. Thermarest is the real deal.  :smiled:

++1 zillion on therma rest!

I figure 10 good deep breaths into them and you can sleep on rocks (we have)

I didn't know they have a thicker one now - gotta check dat out..............

     thermarest

When you are not using them, storing at home, keep them unrolled and inflated and the foam will last 20 years

Campmor.com has their brand of the thermarest for a little better price than the thermarest.

A friend of mine has been the Slumberjack version of the Thermarest for years with no problems.
