Just had stator go out on Classic, 90,000 plus, didn't think to much about it, just had one go out on my fatboy with only 25,000 miles.  Is there a better stator out there then stock Harley.  All the metric bikes I've owned over the years never had a stator go out.
Thanks

Honda Goldwings once had a problem withe stators.  I had to replace one in a 78 GWing,  had to pull the engine out of the frame and separate the rear case from the motor to get to the durn stator.

What year bike are we talking about? HD had a some bad stators and some bad rotor / stator combos in 2000 and 2001. And they also had the problem of the routing of the wires to stator - they could collect oil and short out. There were bulletins on those.

I like the Cycle Electric ones and their regulator.   http://www.cycleelectricinc.com/CONTENCE.html
