Does any one know what the difference is between  a Dunlop 401 and a 402? Is it the weight rating? Thanks

The 401 is softer / stickier used on Sportster's ,402 a harder compound used on the larger more heavy models for longer wear.

Forget them both and buy some Dunlop E3's.  Best tire you can get for the dollar!

Speakin of E3s (and M/C tires in general).................do these 'store well' in my garage as long as they are laying down with nothing sitting on top of them?

If freight keeps going well this month I may buy my next rear & front just to have them in hand when needed.............

I was wondering what the difference is because my 05 Fatboy calls for a 401 on the rear and my wifes 02 Fatboy calls for a 402 on the rear. I was wondering if I could put a 401 on her 02. Dennis Kirk has 401s for $107 and free shipping. 402s are $116. Hope their not old tires like some have been getting on here. At that price you have to wonder.

I've bought numerous Dunlops from Ron Ayers and from Jake Wilson. Never gotten an old one from either place. They sell so many tires, I don't think you ever would get an old one, as long as it was a regular seller like Dunlops. And I also prefer the E3's, fwiw.

I feel the same way about Metzler 880's.   Turned my Ultra into one scary ride in the rain.

I tried a set of Metzlers on my Roadking. Hated them. Made the bike ride like a lumber wagon. I didn't care for them in the rain either.
