I have the stock head pipes with some cheap no name slip ons on my bike. I am trying to figure out what "the best" true dual exhaust system is. Any input??

Many here will tell you to go 2 into 1.  A lot of data to backup this way as a good setup.  Its standard on the 2010 RG now.  That says something, I suppose.

I run truduals with crossover (Bub 7's), so not much help on slip-ons.

When I first bought my '07 RG I installed V&H Dresser Duals / true dual head pipes with SE slip-on's. Ran good, less heat (along with other mods) and a little more exhaust rumble but could easily hear the sound system. I recently purchased V&H Monster Ovals mufflers. They're good performers with ever so slightly improved acceleration and significantly louder exhaust rumble. I can still hear the sound system without problems and they look pretty cool.
You're known by the promises you keep. Not the promises you make!

kerker slip ons with the pat baffles are very good performers but they are also loud.i had the se off road 2 pcs mufflers with the stock baffles and changed them out. some se mufflers were made by kerker and baffles are interchangeable.kerker is now owned by suppertrapp and info can be obtained there.joe minton from american rider magazine also is a good source of info on exhaust.he's the designer of the pass a truck modifications which included the pat slip-ons.

I was just looking at the monster ovals. They seem to be nice. I forgot to mention it's an 05 RG. Does the 2 into 1 create more heat on the right side of the bike?

I switched from reinhart true duals to a supertrapp supermeg 2 into 1 and heat on right side is not an issue at all.
I'd rather be Judged by Twelve than Carried by Six!

Well my 2 cents would be a 2 into 1...I use the D&D Fat Cat and it runs and sounds like no other..Great construction and not one problem in 5 years and 30K. Plus there is a HP increase that I understand duals cannot compare with.

If you own one you should ride it...not polish it..not look at it...ride the dam

V&H 2 into 1 pro-pipe here.  Maybe a little loud for some, but I always hear ear plugs and have no problem hearing the stereo.  Personally I like the sound and performance of the pipe, heat is not a problem, but that is a function of tuning, not the pipe itself.
