Looking for a tattoo artist in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area of North Carolina. Yellow pages is full of them but like recommendations from the group. Artist must be of high quality and reasonable cost as well as being in business a long time.....lots of work to prove his/her worth.

Thanks...

So you want really fine work done for a cheap price. My suggestion is to save your money and then find the right artist that you can afford. This will be a piece of art you will wear on your body for the rest of your life. It's kind of like asking Ronald McDonald to cook you a fine Filet Mignon if you catch my  drift here. If you want good work you pay for it. Just my .02, Spidey.

Spidey, I have been in a lot of shops where the work is not that good and the price is ridiculous. I'm not looking for cheap and I am willing to pay. But it seems that nowadays anyone that can draw wants to open a shop. I am also looking for experienced.

The best way Ive found is to check with some of the guys you know that have some ink...see who did theirs... I got mine from a local guy that my buddies had work done by... Price is not an issue

I cannot speak from personal experience since I got most of my ink done in MS.  But I now live in Clayton NC and have a guy working for me that has some FANTASTIC art work from a local guy here.  He told me when we talked about it, but I will have to ask again.  Anyway, the ($$$) sounded reasonable and the work looks great.  I will ask him again who the artist was.  Might be in Dunn / Benson area.

Big Daddy-O, Was just busting you about the Ronald McD thing. Like you I want the best and for me money is an issue. One thing you can think about doing is pick up a few tat mags at your local book store and see who's being featured in your area. There are a lot of hacks out there and a lot of very good talent as well. I am much like you in that I want the best bang for the buck and don't want to hear Uh-Oh while being worked on. LOL I am sure that there is someone in your area that will be able to get the job done and done right the first time. If not just wait until you are the area of a feaured artist and have made prior arrangements to have a setting time. It may also be advisable to send them the art work you would like so they could give you an estimate of the time needed to complete the work so it may fit into yours and their schedule.
I like the barter system and have gotten some good work done with that system as well. Amazing what a new tire on a bro's bike with an oil change or two will get you.  Spidey.
