Heading to Eastern Tennessee in a few weeks for a riding vacation. Plan on the following
1. Devils Triangle
2. The Dragon
3. Chehola Skyway
4. Wheels thru Time Museum
5. Blue Ridge Parkway
6. Casino's in Cherokee
7. Smokey Mtn National Park
8. Fontana Dam

Am I missing anything?

Thanks Crow.....

If you like going to dealerships and looking around go to Smokey Mountain Harley Davidson in Maryville. They have a ton of bikes, decent prices and concerts every Saturday night in The Shed. IMHO the best dealership in Tennessee.

Wow!  That's a lot of great rides!  The Blue Ridge Parkway alone is 4 days of riding if you go end-to-end and back.  There is so much good riding out there.  You've named most of the popular spots.  When I lived there, some of the best rides were the ones where I just rode away from home and wandered the back roads.  Didn't always know where I was going to come out.

Enjoy the riding!  Wish I was there with you to enjoy that scenery.

hellbender (rt28) which dumps into US129 at Deels gap is a pretty good ride too.

Is it easy to get a cheap room with no reservations along the ride?

Every day, I'm one day closer...  WTF!  I'm not near 70 yrs. old!

 You're in for several riding treats! If you plan to ride the Dragon I suggest doing so on a week day. Too much traffic and too many fools on the weekends. Also, if you get a chance to hit Rt 321 in E. Tenn. you can ride from Maryville (in the south) to Johnson City (in the North). The best part of 321 is between Newport and Greeneville. In Parrottsville you can catch a road that will take you over to Hot Springs and Asheville (NC). Parrottsville is a cool little town (all streets named after birds). This very scenic and good 2-lane riding.
Have fun, ride safely and thanks for spending some of your money in NC.

If you're in Smoky Mtn. NP, do the Cades Cove loop road. One of my favorites. It's slow, bring your patience with you, stop often and enjoy the short hikes to various churches and homesteads.

Gatlinburg, Tn. is fun for night life, but very busy with tons of traffic.

Pigeon Forge is great if you have a giant SUV or van full of kids. You'll fit right in.

Last time we stayed there, we stayed in Townsend, Tn.; very quiet, but few restaurants.

Wheels Through Time moved west about 10 months ago!

nope, it's still there.  Dale decided to stay in the valley.  I was just there last month.

in case anyone is curious about the museum, I uploaded some of my pictures from WTT in the gallery section: http://harleytechtalk.com/htt/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=album;id=15

I didn't know they were still there. I will be going before long.

the only problem is they have very limited hours now.   :emsad:  If you plan on going, plan on going on a weekend....even then there's no guarantee that the museum will be open.  It was open Fri, Sat, and Sun the week I was there....but there was also some local bike event going on that week end.

I was on the web site for the museum and they will be open the weekend I am there. I am looking forward to seeing it after everything I have read on this site over the last couple years. And to think I have been down there riding 2 other times and never knew about it.

there is a hellva good over look of the Sequatchie Valley at Dunlap just east of Cagle TN on 105 I think it is. You can see what God carved it the middle of the mtns.
