I was in the Spokane Dealership last week and it looked like it was on its death bed.  Literally did not have any clothing or accessories.  they did have a few new bikes on the floor.  I asked the parts guy what was up and he said they had just had a 50% off sale.  It looked like a going out of business sale to me.  Any body from Spokane know if they are getting ready to fold?

Shumate Harley in the Tri-Cities looked the same last week.. They also had just had a 50% off sale.  I was looking at helmets and I doubt if the had 15 of them on the shelf.

I have been there a few times over the years, but dont know whats up with them.

IMO, they have a terrible location in Spokane.  Way off I-90, which is a mistake.  They should have located closer to I-90 on the west end, or east end of Spokane.  I think they would attract more biz.

The Tri-Cities shop should have been located closer to the junction of Hwys 82/182/395.  More traffic in all directions near that area.  Where they are now on 395 is kind of out of the way, unless you are doing the North-South route on 395.

I have bought parts at both shops over the years, but havent been to either in a year and a half.  Hope they make it.  The Coeur d'Alene shop doesnt have much.  But, its in a good location on I-90.  lol

My buddy who is GM of another dealership called them about something and they stated they were going to close for inventory and did not know when they were going to reopen. My bud stated to me inventory in August  is pretty suspect. Don't
look good.

Maybe they are selling, and drawing down inventory to make the business sell for less, which would make it more attractive to a buyer.

Or, maybe they are about to die.

I read a CL ad in Spokane, the poster said they had closed. Seems kind of strange since they were the only dealer around for a ways (CDA excepted) Possibly  the Lewiston ID store is closed also? Anybody know for sure?

Makes sense, as when I was in there it felt like a funeral home.  Everyone looked pretty glum.

I talked to the Lewiston store and was told that all three stores had been sold to an unknown buyer.  They were not sure if they would open on Friday or not.   Bulkness

I kinda thought that might be the case.....I hope that is for real, and not the stores closing.  I wonder if Latus bought them?

George Latus, sold the dealership to shumate originally and just wanted to focus on the Portland store, and where his new life/wife is. He apparantly got out at the right time, unless hes' holding paper on the Spokane store, but I very seriously doubt he'd jump back into it, He's a very smart dude.

Shumate HD is Closed and all Employees laid off.   Published news story is that store is sold and will reopen under new ownership.

I used to buy parts from George Latus when he had a little hole in the wall salvage type shop in Missoula.  Believe it or not he wanted a Honda Dealership and could not get one and the only dealership he could get was harley, nice guy to boot or at least he was years ago.

Talked to the Lewiston store today.  They are open but not allowed to sell anything.  The store has been sold.  They were told the attorneys would have the paperwork completed by Monday and they would open on Tuesday business as usually.  I'll wait and see.

They are open but not allowed to sell anything.

Kinda defeats the purpose of being open!   :hyst:  Hmmm... maybe it's a new strategy...

Customer:  I like the 2010 FLHT... I'll take it.
Salesman:  Sorry... it's not for sale.
Customer:  :wtf: How about $3000 over MSRP?
Salesman:  Sorry... no.

It's like the old days again.  LOL

I was just in Cour D Alene, which is next to Spokane at the "new" Lone Wolf dealeship.  They said the Spokane store is closed.  I live in TriCities and the Kennewick store is bone empty and ready to close.  About time - he ran a "Potty mouth"hole of a shop - bad attitude - his usual reply to customers who have been price shopping was, "fine - then go to xxx - see if I care"....  I think he ran more potential customers to Yakima (Owens) than he ever kept.  What's odd, is that HD is usually pretty protective of their dealerships, and I think it odd they'd open one 30 miles from the Spokane shop.  Sounds like HD knew what was coming.

A couple of years ago we were headed to the coast and we stopped in the Kennewick store.  I was in the store for about 5 minutes and a person came up to me and said that if I was going to purchase something I could stay otherwise I would have to leave.  It was like 1pm or something like that not even near closing.  I said something to the affect of "are you serious" and he said yes that they had a Posse group headed their way and wanted the store available to just that group.  I left.

Saturday I was at Shumate/Kennewick finding service kinda open and everyone doing inventory. Was told the Spokane & Lewiston stores were being bought, but it was unknown what is going on in Kennwick.

Did a lot of business with spokane Latus.  Spokane Shumate was the worst dealer I've ever dealt with, Kenn. Shumate wasn't much different.  I now deal with Portland Latus.

A friend was at shumate kennewick yesterday and talked to Brian. He was told that spokane will re open under new management but the bank got kennewick. No plans to re open.
