I run an auto shop and all the techs own a set. They use them for torquing down lug nuts on wheels only. Every thing else that requires precision like manifolds etc they use a hand torque wrench.........

I had a oldmobile once that if you did not torque the front wheels properly the rotors would warp everytime.  No problems if torque stick were used.

A torque sticks are long sockets in various diameters that allow you to put on lug nuts with an impact and meet the correct torque spec.

Do you mean those colorful things Harbor Freight sells?
Back in the late 60's and early 70's when I bought a new Dodge every year, I noticed that the owners manual recommended 50 foot pounds?, what is recommended today for lug nuts?
There is probably no one answer, so what is the range?

Differnet colors indicate different size and torque. most cars ar 80 to 100 lbs ft and tucks/suv are 100 to 120 they work by twisting at a given torque so that your impact gun will just hammer and release without adding any more torque to the nut

Been turning wrenches professionally for 28 years. I use them daily. As was indicated above your brakes and wallet will thank you.
Most bike problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebar to the seat
