Looking for information of where to stay or more importantly where not to stay over the long weekend.  Anyone familiar with the area?
thanks

I live in Canon City.....Colorado's prison capital.  I'm sure I can help you out.
Are you camping or looking for a hotel/motel?

I did a little internet research before posting and man......people have some pretty nasty things to say about a few of our local hotels.  In the end I'd have to recommend the Super 8.  I've had friends stay there and they had no complaints.  It's not fancy and lacks things like a pool, hot tub, or laundry.  But it's quiet, has pretty good motorcycle parking, and is clean.  It's right behind the Village Inn so a quick meal is just across the parking lot.

The Quality Inn used to be Canon's best, but it has gone way down hill over the last few years.  The Hampton Inn is the newest, but it has those thin walls and ceilings that allow every footstep to "thump" the room.  Neither one of these have very good bike parking.

I see lot's of bike's parked in the Best Western parking lot.  If you are on the bottom floor you can park directly in front of your room.  But it's old and suffers from lots of traffic noise.  The Comfort Inn looks pretty good but a friends wife worked on the housekeeping crew and I heard horror stories about how they cleaned.

I'm listed in the HTT assistance database so if problems arise give me a shout.

Thanks for your reply. It seems the hotel/motel industry has really gone down hill.  I keep a list of places acceptable to stay at when we venture back east.  The list shrinks by one at least four times a year.  It's a damn shame.

a bunch of us stayed at that Best Western some years back, it wasnt the fanciest place in town but having the bike at the door was nice, they even had a big box of old towels by the front desk to clean the bikes with and you could use the hose to wash them if ya needed.

SD I agree (not about that specific Motel as we haven't stayed there) - We've seen "up & down" results from many diff motel chains............the 2 MOST consistently AOK for us have always been Best Western or Dave-leaving-the-light-on / Motel 6
