Road King VS Road Glide

Fairing this and fairing that or windshield.  To me I HATE the fact that on the RG the headlight does not point where you are going!  I would rather light up the road in front of me than the bushes and trees I am passing.

My 07 RK-Custom also came from factory with CC, BUT it was a factory installed option.  The 07 RKings didnt come with cruise standard.  I paid an extra $270.00 for it, as I recall.  I ordered the bike from the dealer that way.  No security though, which was also an option.

My (and all) 07 RG had cruise standard.  They are indeed a factory option as of 2010 on the RG.

OOPS, misread your post. I took "on the classic but not the standard" to mean not  an option on the RK standard. Now I see you meant, it was a factory option, but not standard on the road king models.

Converted my '05 RK Classic to a R/Glide, couldn't be happier. All the mounting holes are there (same frame) and a lot more stable.

Mark, did you buy a '05 fairing and wire harness making it a simple plug in?

I bought fairing (inner and outer) and all brackets (fairing and radio, plus lower bracket to highway bars) but made my own harness. I'm sure that somewhere under the tank is the main harness breakout connector that you could connect a R/Glide wiring harness to but it would be a lot easier with an electraglide. I just needed wiring for Voltmeter, oil pressure, oil temp, and clock (plus radio, but that's all in the fairing anyway).

What brand radio do you have in that fairing.  My 06 RG's Harman Kardon just bought the farm, well atleast the display did.  Found a place that will refurbish for $250.00, but I am looking for other options also.

I always wonderd about the headlight in a turn thing with a fixed fairing, now that I have one I understand better that its no issue what so ever , 5 minutes down the road the fixed fairing is natural as can be!
