Hi all
we all bag out bad HD dealers now lets tell about the good ones.
The one i would like to talk about is Capital HD in Orange NSW Australia.
Gary and Lou go out of there way to help me when ever i am there, I rode up there once and Gary walked out of the workshop with an oil can in his hand and said to me he could hear my pipes needed a little oil on the rubber mounts at the rear bags to stop the noise and just did it, before i even got into the shop, Makes you feel like one of the family.
Ride hard but stay the right way up.

I am happy with my dealer, but could spread the love a bit, can you give me directions there from Toronto, Canada?  :teeth:

Gawd, if I could afford a trip there I would definitely go!)

I take a real simple approach when it comes to Harley dealers. I'll give any one of them a few chances to earn my business. If they have what I need in stock and at a reasonably competitive price, I will give them my business. If they don't stock common items, (I was recently in a dealer that was out of oil filters!) or if the staff acts like they are doing me a favor to simply talk to me, I don't go back. I am heavily influenced on where to buy my next bike based on my parts buying experiences.

I have had generally very good experiences at Buddy Stubbs H-D, & Chesters H-D, here in the Phoenix area, and while on the road, I had excellent experiences with Destination H-D in Tacoma, and H-D of Yorkton, Sask. Both of those shops went way above and beyond to help out a travelling rider.

Roanoke Valley HD in Roanoke VA.  Great folks.  They really take care of you when you are travelling.  You are next in line.  They always put you ahead of anyone else when a traveller has a problem.  I lost an ignition switch some years ago.  They got me in and out, got the repair covered by HD (bike was out of wty) and even put the wife and I on a demo unit to ride for the day while they were working on mine.  Superior customer service!!!  A few years later, I knew I would be needing a tire while on a Blue Ridge trip, so I stopped in and got it from them.  Again, great service!

I have been to a lot of good dealers. Here's a list of a few that I really like and have had excellant service from. First of all is Hales H-D in Mansfield, OH. Jim and Brian in parts are the bomb. Always there to help with parts that I need and with the 20% deal it makes it nice.
2nd is Wild West in Lubbock, TX. They did me right when I needed my alarm married to the bike. Took me in on short notice, had me in and out in less than 30 minutes and didn't gouge me for a full hour. Will and Marty in parts are also very helpful with parts as well as where to stay when in Lubbock for an overnight and the best eats in town with great directions.
3rd, Barnett H-D in Las Cruces, NM. Got the deal I wanted when I traded for my Ultra this year and were more than happy to serve.
4th, Charlies H-D Huntington, WV. Jim in parts worked with me to get some tranny parts that no one else had and it would have been an extra week to wait for the parts had he not had them and again the 20% off with part numbers at the ready.
5th Chicago H-D. parts again and the 20% off.
Heritage H-D in Concord, NH. Sales and service are there to help you and make you feel at home. Good folks for sure.
I know there are a lot more and I am sure the good ones far out number the bad. I also think that in some cases the bad ones as reported aren't really all that bad, it's just the attitude of the customer and maybe someone they are tryng to deal with having a bad day as well. I know we've all had our share of good and bad experiences and while bashing isn't allowed it is necessary to know where to and not to spend your hard earned money and to do so tactfully. That I can agree with. Spidey.
You can ride my hoss, Ride my woman but don't ever ride my bike.

I've shared Spidey's great experiences at Wild West in Lubbock - I called ahead for an "on the road" oil change and they TCB(took care of bidness) with a smile and fast service.
I've also had great luck at:
Red River HD (Iowa Park / Wichita Falls TX)
Cowboy HD (south Austin TX)
Kent's HD (Abilene TX)
Mile Hi HD (Aurora CO - east Denver)
Sun HD (north Denver)

Gator HD in Leesburg

Stormy Hill in Clermont

So far Seminole in Sanford has improved

Dennis The Menace

Mile High HD in Colorado is THE BEST!!!  Although #4 in sales in US last year, they have the best staff.  Period.

House of Harley, Milwaukee WI  this is a few years back .they changed out my broken drive belt on an out of warranty bike for $100.00 they did not have to do that but I will never forget

Jim B.

Gary Bang Harley in Atascadero, CA; Santa Maria Harley in Santa Maria, CA; and Santa Barbara Harley in Santa Barbara/Carpenteria CA. All have excellent service and parts departments.

HyperDetroit

I've had good luck dealing with the following dealers:

Ocean State HD in Warwick, Rhode Island  I bought my Softail from them for the MSRP back at the height of demand when everywhere else the prices were 3 grand above the MSRP, great people.

Monty's Cycle Shop in West Bridgewater, Mass (I think they are now called HD of West Bridgewater)  It is defninitely an old school place, worth a visit.

Thunder Road HD in Windsor, Ontario.  Great service experience there.

Premont HD in Quebec.  They got me back on a road even after having to go get some parts elsewhere for me.  Definitely above and beyond.

Bumpus HD in Jackson, TN. We lost the rear cyl just cruising along in the middle of nowhere on a Friday afternoon and called
Bumpus on the recomendation of a guy who stopped to see if he could help. Bumpus sent a flat bed right out ( about 30 miles)
and picked up the Ultra and us and took us into their shop. It was around 10 minutes til 5 when we got there and they close
at 5. Two techs stayed late to diagnos the problem. (SE lifter had failed and broken the SE roller rocker) They found us a nice
hotel within walking distance and the 2 techs came in the next morning and had us back on our way within a couple of hours.
We thought that was pretty much above and beyond.

I agree big time with Hotroadking on Gator HD in Leeseburg, FL. We only spend 3 months a year there and they treat us
almost like family. Needed a new rear tire and brakes on the RKC and when I called for an appt they said that they were
running a 20% off parts and labor but that they were booked up and that was the last day of the spl. So the tech said he
would schedule it for that day but to bring it in the next and that way we got the 20% off. And no, it wasn't that I took
the bike clear to FL with a bald rear tire and bad brakes ! It was that we rode over 6,000 miles of scenic backroads while there.

And of course our local dealer-- Metro HD in Cedar Rapids, Ia. They have gone above and beyond for me so many times that
I couldn't begin to list them.

We tend to only hear about the bed experiences but there are a whole lot of good dealerships out there doing a great job
to keep us on the road and our bikes covered with shiney parts.

BART

We have four excellent dealers within easy driving distance.  Winona Harley at Winona, MN; Rochester Harley in Rochester MN, Bergdale Harley in Albert Lea, MN; and Faribault Harley in Faribault, MN.  They've all been very helpful and go out of their way to accommodate you in any way.  Must be the "Minnesota Nice" here in Southeastern Minnesota!!  I have been visiting and doing business at the Rochester and Faribault locations for years - long before they built their new stores.  A friend and I have been going to Albert Lea (then Vandegrift's) since the early 1960's.  The Winona shop is a newer shop, also with excellent people.

I live in Columbus Ohio and all I'm sayind is- I'm glad some of you have found good dealers. I'm still looking for one.    Just saying.

Big Dan

I've never had a bad experience with Uke's Harley Davidson in Kenosha, WI. They've gone way out of there way to help me out at times.
Never follow the Hippo into the water.

Harley Davidson Sport Center, Duluth, Minn. Been doing business w/them for over 20 yrs. Dennis and Marty will bend over backwards to do things right. Proof is here in tough times, they are doing well. Been a family run business for over 50 yrs and it shows.

moose

you know sometimes dealers forget its all about the customer base. the dealer treats the employees right and they  treat their customers fairly and with respect and they will return.

I was service manager at an auto dealer for 23 years and my customer satisfaction rating was always tops. I had the busiest shop in the area and a lot of return customers that would buy their next car no where but at my place.

service writers are the front line they must remember that service customers really don't want to be there so it is their job to treat them like the most special person in the world and negotiate to yes at all times. learn how to play it forward and you will never have to look over your shoulder

just my opinion and I'm sticking to it

Sauk Prairie Harley, in Wisconsin.
Best atmosphere overall. Had very good experiences from sales to Service!
They also have a Harley Outlet store too.

Racine Harley in Wisconsin to stop in at, people are friendly, and part's department helpful. Had no buying experience there, Sauk was a better deal there. Had bike serviced once in Racine. No complaints there.

Wilwert's in both Dubuque Iowa, and Galena have awesome people working there ( as does Sauk prairie ). I believe their tied in with the Sauk Prairie dealership now. Bought first Harley at Wilwert's, 2nd. at Sauk.

the Grump

Generally speaking, I haven't had many bad experiences anywhere. However, friends of mine have and thats good enough for me.  i'm with Gary, if I get a TUDE, I dont go back. My dealer "Carolina Harley Davidson" has been always good to me. I'm not a big spender either. So, when I go in for a couple of bolts or an oil filter, they're just as nice to me as the guy that just bought a couple of hundred dollars of chrome.

JONNIEROCK

Have to give a big thanks to the guys at 5 season sports in Eveleth Minnesota. Was up there last week, about 200 miles from home, when my riding buddy got a flat tire. I knew they closed at 2:00. We were about 1/2 hour away. I called at 1:45 and asked if there was anything they could do for us. Ajay I believe his name was, Said sure !  We hurried over and about 1 1/2 hour later we were on the road with a new tire. So I have to give those guys a big thumbs up
