does anyone know if you can modify the headlight on a 09 road glide, like that of the new 2010! thanks to all GB

seattledyna

whats different on the 2010?

the dealer cant keep one on the floor long enough for me to get a close look at it!

pj711

Modify how?  Are you talking about how the 2010 does not have a clear lense and has a black bezel around the headlights?  If yes, you can buy the black bezel and install it in place of the clear lenses.  Check out the 09 CVO RG, that is where hte black bezel first appeared.  I have an 08 and installed this.

Hope this is what you were referring to.

Without the clear plastic cover, won't bugs get in every little space and be difficult to keep clean?

I put one on my 06 and one on my friends 09, bought from Zanottis.

hotroadking

yes, you can buy the 09 CVO Bezel, pop off the cover from the lens and snap in the new cover

  Thankyou! that was the info i was needing! again thankyou GB

I like the plastic cover, keeps the bugs out.  I wonder if you can add one on the '10's?

To me the bugs aren't a problem...... but if you wanted to add the plastic lens, you should be able to pop out the black bezel as it just snaps in the same slots as the clear lens.

The cover also keeps rocks from trashing the headlight/s. Gets expensive on road trips.

I also thought the cover makes it a bit more aerodynamic, with that big headlight hole there it would be like dragging a five gallon bucket thru the air

pj711

Oh cmon guys.... my fat arse gives me more drag than the headlight w/o the cover!

The bugs aren't any worse than the cover, you have to scrub em off eitherway.   As for rocks, what about the EGlide passing lamps?? Similiar situation and I haven't seen to many lamps broken by rocks.

I look the looks and don't have any issues with the set-up, been on my bike for 10K miles.  Just my 2 cents.

Been on E-glides for about 12 years.  Between me and a buddy, we've replaced about 3 or 4 passing lamps due to rock hits.  One was my expensive Halogen accessory bulb.

I know if I see one of the new set-ups I will probably like it ;)

pfft you guys ride during bug season, not me, I pre-wax, clay, polish and wax the front end, cover with a nice soft mink lined HD bike cover with the super cool reflective silver inlay stiched logo with my name, model type and image on the front!

I only ride on dry days without bugs and less than 10% chance of rain so I'm not worried about bugs, I have the truck for that, leave the beemer in the garage...

Over the course of 50+ years, I've had a bunch of headlights (and passing lamps) busted out by rocks. On an EG, the headlight with removable halogen is at least $100.  :emsad: :emsad:

I put the new black bezel on my 06 RG also.

We all play the odds when we ride, be it a stone to the headlight, windshield, faring, leg, face. If you like the way it looks go for it!

Its only money they print that s**t every day.  :pop:

I put one on my 05 Roadglide....pops on like the headlight cover $50.00 ready to go vivid Black

It seems the bigest advantage of the 2010 RG headlights is that you don't have to take the faring apart to change the bulbs.
