I'm thinking about doing a road job for my work . It's at the Commanche power plant near Pueblo , Colorado . Just trying to find out a little about the area . Kinda curious if it's hard to find a room this time of year[ski season?] and what this town is like for a outa stater . Any cool must do's or must see places ? Thanks

I finally returned to Colorado after 19 years in California. I'm in Colorado Springs. I'm not that familiar with Pueblo. But you are not far away from Cripple Creek and Colorado Springs. Plenty of mountain roads, gambling, beautiful country.

I live in Colorado Springs as well, 38 miles from Pueblo.
Should be no problem finding a room in Pueblo. It is not a mecca for skiers overnighters. It is a small town, but has lots to do if you go looking. Don't suggest too much mountain riding this time of year. It can be 55 degrees in Pueblo (or warmer), but 20 degrees and snowing in the nearby mountains. Cripple Creek is a very small mountain gambling town, can be fun if you like quaint casinos. It's a mountain town and the scenery getting there is awesome (after you get out of Canon City)takes a little over an hour to get there...  Pueblo is probably the least expensive city to live in along the "front range", but if you get bored in Pueblo, Colorado Springs is only a short drive north.
Interesting thing about Pueblo is that it is always much warmer there than north... the elevation isn't quite as high and I guess the 1000 or so feet make a difference...but don't misunderstand, it can get cold too, with snow, particularly if the snow is from the south (we call those storms "Albuquerque Lows"), but only get 1 or 2 of those per year.
