I have a rip in a leather bike seat.
Anyone know an affordable place to get it fixed?
I'm in SE Iowa and would like to find someone close by, but I will send it out if that's all that is available.

Try a local shoe repair, or saddlemaker? Or of course an upholstery shop.

 I already knew that.
I'm looking for a specific shop that can be recommended because they have had experience, have shown skill and good results

We have a good apolstry shop near me, ( to far for you) but when I was going to get the seat recovered a friend came accross with a brand new factory take off for the same $$
Just throwing that out as an option.  I you do get it reapostered think about having 1" of foam removed and adding 1" of gel pad. Some tell me that works great?

I only want it repaired if possible with No modifications.

I think I would try Caston Shoe Shop in Burlington(up on Maple Streel).  Had some stuff done just last week.  Too bad "Chick's" is no longer with us.  He was VERY good at repairs and building whatever you needed. :teeth:

I wrote an article about a guy in Fort Collins, Colorado who does great work. I'm not sure how much he'd charge. He takes orders from out of town. Here's the link to the article:

A little out of your area but I have a man in Roswell, NM who does great work. He's reasonable and pretty quick. He does have a full time job and upholstery is his sideline. I've had many seats redone by him and all with great results and much satisfaction. Let me know if I can be of help. Spidey.
