Sorry i am not trying to tick off Earl but...
I have been reading some interesting specs on the Redline Shockproof line. All the hype and corp bull aside... has anyone been using the heavy in there trany or the light in the primary or even there 20W50 in there engine! Just wanted some first hand info from anyone that has used these products and not affiliated with the co. The specs look impressive but what are they like in the real world? Beside the fact that they look like milkshakes! :wtf:

Heavy was awesome in the tranny when I had an EVO.  Would use it in my shovel too but all it did was turn a small leak big, being synthetic and all :emsad:

Never tried any of their other products.

Heavy Shockproof has been in my trannies for the last 100,000 miles or more, and Redline MTL in the primary for the same miles. Works for me.

Just started using Redline Heavy Shockproof in my trannie...Was using Dyno...Noticeable easier shifting....Especially on a cold engine and easier to find neutral...

I use the shockproof heavy duty,,in trany,02fxd,,,,I have used there 20/50 = the shockproof is the best thing you can do for your trany.....the engine oil is too expensive,,,I'll find some other 20/50 syn.....like mobile one.....I'm one that will put anything in the primary.

I've been using all 3, MTL, Shockproof Heavy and 20w/50 for 6 years now with no issues at all, the nice thing about the Shockproof is its color (pink) if something starts leaking you know by the color at least one is or isn't the problem.

And yes the oil is expensive and I'm absolutely sure that something like Mobil is just as good but I use it to make me feel good, lol.

I've also tried their 20w/60 and that worked fine as well.
When it comes to these things I think it's less of and issue as to what you use and more that you do your changes and filter at the required intervals.

You can use Red Line, Royal Purple or M1, or any other sync they all work well enough. Like it was said Red Line engine oil it a tad on the high side,, that's why I use M1 15w50 like a lot of others do never had a problem with it. I use Red Line Super Shock in the trannie, it made a noticeable difference in shifting and noise reduction. In the primary you can run just about anything, again I use Red Line MTL because I feel its a good product. Not being a Mech or anything I have learned to listen to a few of those in here that have forgotten more than I know. And there is just something about using an oil that you use in your engine in the trannie,, goes against everything I know about gears and that's not much.

Not associated with Redline at all.  I have the Shock proof Heavy in the transmision for about 65,000 miles and change it at 20,000 mile intervals.  20-60 Redline in the engine and it gets changed at 6 to 7000 miles with the B&M Trickshift non synthetic in the primary.  I have no trouble  don't expect any either.

I started using RedLine Shockproof in my tranny about 6 months ago. It made a noticable difference in shifting and noise, all for the better. I like it and will continue using it.

Been using Heavy shock proof in my Evo and the Twincam for more years than I can remember.  Nothing Better!!

I've used all 3 and by all accounts I've seen they are good products. I like Mobile 1 products too and have returned to their 15-50 and ATF. I don't dislike or doubt the Redline engine or MTL, but consider the Mobile 1 counterparts to be perfectly satisfactory performance-wise for me and my normal riding conditions and style, offering better value for money and more readily available locally. I do continue to use the shockproof heavy.. @ 4 years now; provides smooth, positive  shifting and minimal wear if "fur" on the transmissions magnet is any indication.

except have logged 100,000 miles on 2 different 6spds with the heavy. Just started using RL 20w-60 this summer.

this stuff is soooooo good I think I'm going to try running 4qts in my motor to quiet it down. Bet y'all haven't tried that   :hyst:

I tried the Shockproof heavy in my 6 speed for the last 10,000 miles.  It was ok, but I didn't find it to be superior to the Belray 85W140 I have been using for the last 10 years or so.  I'd have to rate it about equal to the Belray in terms of shift quality, noise, etc.  I went back to the BelRay because I can get it locally, and it's a bit cheaper.   Also, it doesn't look like a strawberry milkshake!

I have used all Redline Synthetic in my RK since I got it new in 03.  20/50 oil, MTL in the primary, and shockproof heavy in the trans. Runs well/quiet/trans shifts nice and smooth.

Shockproof heavy in the RevTech 5/4 tranny in the shovel and in the 6 speed on the new Fat Bob.  Works for me.

Red Line Heavy shockproof in Gracie's / Jim's 6-speed here. Smoother shifting immediately noticeable when I tried it the 1st time.

I was amazed to see it drain out the SAME color after 5000 miles as when I poured it in!

I started using Red Line products when I bought a new Heritage in 05.  The shockproof heavy is great.  I now run it in my 94 Evo tranny as well.  I don't get to ride as much as I used to so I don't even challenge the change interval on the stuff.  I run it for two years or 10K which ever comes first.  Bet it would be just about like new at twice that interval and more.  I just figure every other year I ought to look in there to see what's going on .  Besides I start to feel guilty.

Shockproof Heavy residue in a funnel makes a good flytrap. I just caught two of those pesky little bastard flies as I filled the gearbox. Seems as though they were attracted to the lube after buzzing my face and ears. NICE!

hey ultraman, how's it going? I would think that with all the Km's on that thing you would go with what works. That's what's in it.

Thanks for all the replies, pushes me off the fence! With all that approval to the products I am going to try the Heavy shockproof at least see if the shift clunk is reduced. And Hello there Whitebagger, always move forward. That bike moves a little quicker then she did before. I just can't help myself, I need to tinker (more power)... I've never had a warranty in my life. The dealers need to meet EPA, I don't! It's all good.
