I'm going to put a 150 rear tire on my 02 FLHTC this winter & was planning to switch out the 1.5' belt for the 04 & later 1 1/8 belt & pulley. I also thought about giving myself a little more clearance by using a 1" belt/pulley. Does anyone know if there is a 1" 70 tooth pulley and 1" 139 tooth belt (Dyna's?) that will work on my FL?

I've been looking into the 1" belt and pulleys.
So far the largest HD one I can find is 68T and that is used on FLs and also Sportsters - not sure if it is the exact same pulley though.
Dynas use 66T on the rear, Dynas for the Japanese market use 64T on the rear.

So far the 1" belts I have found are:-
136T and 137T for Sportsters
131T and 130T for Dynas
133T for Softail Rocker
140T for FL
149T for Buell 1125R

To keep almost the same gearing try a 31T transmission pulley with a 68T rear pulley. Gives 2.193:1 vs 2.1875 for the 32/70 you have now.
Now, using 31T loses one tooth, using 68T loses another 2 teeth, so you can use a belt 3T shorter.
Try the 136T Sportster belt part number 40371-07 and don't blame me if I'm wrong!

Klammer, I have been running rear 150/16 Avon Venom-X's on my 02 Road King for several years, with the original stock drive belt. That was at least 50K miles ago.
I used a spacer between the pulley and hub, then machined that spacer thickness off the right side axle spacer. As I recall, I ground some material off that swingarm plate where the brake caliper slides on. I have approx .10" clearance between the belt and tire (clearance is clearance). I also trimmed some plastic off that small inner belt guard. That was it.
Yes, I know they say it can't be done. It can.

the rear pulley from an 06 FXST Standard (200mm tire) is a 1", 70 tooth pulley.

Thanks guy's for the info on the belts & pulleys. For the 1/8 inch that I will gain, I think I will just use the 04 & later 1 1/8 belt & pulley.

TxRoadRunner, I considered doing what you did a while ago, even got a spare brake calipur off ebay to machine and the pulley spacers, but I don't want to alter the off set. A friend did it to his FL w/no problems. It still might be tight on mime with the 1 1/8 belt and 150/80/16. My debris deflector rubs now w/the 130. On a side note, do you like the Avon? I am looking at the Avon also as the Metzler has a lower load rating & the Dunlop E3 is a 160/80/16.

why change the rear pulley if it's still in good shape? the belts always track to the outside when going forward and to the inside when backing up so, unless you spend a lot of time backing up for a block, i think i'd try the original pulley before spending the money on a new one.

You know, that is a truly good idea!
I suppose pulley spacers might/will be required on the rear wheel but Mr Bodgy can handle that...

Get the 1" pully and belt for the late model dresser. Bolts right on, no problems.
Also you have a 5 speed so with the taller gears you should drop 300 rpm's @ 70 mph- not a bad thing.
Red light to redlight difference is barely noticable, unless your in a race.
Easy do.
I have done it to 4 different bikes, everyones been happy so far.
Swap meet pulley runs between $25-50.
It's not about gun control.
It's about CONTROL.

put a 150 avon on a 07 Street Glide, same setup as the RK,
stock pulley stock belt, just remove the lower belt guard and cut down the back side for a little clearance

Will take a bit of patience to get the brake caliper back in with cast wheels but it will go....

JMO it's not worth going to the 150 for the work, nobody but you is going to know...

The current 3.15 gearing is high enough now. I like it but don't want any taller gearing. Do you know what the gearing would work out to using the 1" pulley combined with 3.37 primary gearing? (I already have a 3.37 set up, just not installed). Also, wouldn't the speedo have to be re calibrated with the smaller 1" pulley change?

Yeah, but I like the look of the 150 and it should go along with the other custom work I have done. Can you tell me what the avom measures (true 150mm)?

also, are you happy with the avon and did you use a stock 3" rim? I am coming from a metzler ME880 (brazilian) & am satisfied but never got any type of mileage out of them.

Thanks,
Klammer

2006 Dyna has a 70 tooth rear sprocket. Don't know what it will interchange with?
