Well done with proper components. I bet that runs better than new.

Restored this original owner 75 FXE only for a cager to turn left into me and totaled the bike on it's first road test. Second pic is a rare barn find of a 1980 FXEF 80" that sat for 22 years. Was an Arizona bike so no corrosion or rust. With 16K miles all I did was replace the engine sprocket seal and the main drive seal on the trans using Saddle Bag Rails spacer, do a full service on it and a good clean up. Runs great and I can't believe it but absolutely no leaks from anywhere. Original owner original paint. Walked away from the accident and landed well. Life is good.

My Frankenshovel went into the barn two weeks ago looking like this, what I would call a barhopper.

Came out today looking like this. I still need shorter cables and a brake line.  I like the WWWs better but after 3 sets it was time for a change. Besides I don't bar-hop much. I like a seat I can do more than 50 miles in too. The Big Bertha Bags were made right here in Michigan, I've had them many years.  New battery, starter relay, starter solenoid, neck and swingarm bearings. New tires. I put the stock neck bearing cups and swingarm back on.

Second picture is my choice, that's a great looking shovel.

I kind of lean toward the first, it's such a clean minimal look. Not as practical, but cool isn't always practical.

I am hoping this change will get me ride it more. After a while the stripped look didn't get ridden much if at all.

I was out in the barn today and it's on the lift. The headlight is just above eye level, the fat bars and black tires make it look thicc and make me think of a locomotive coming at ya.  :teeth:

Thanks,

I was in a rush to get those changes completed before the barn got snowed in. It started out just doing the neck and swing arm bearings.  I have only ridden it 150 feet to the garage.

I wanted to get away from the apes, everyone has apes now.  As time passes I am less sure about the beach bar look but free was a good price.  We shall see how it shakes down when I don't have to ride though snow or slush to get to the road.

It may even get a {gasp} windshield.  :embarrassed:
