TC, Congrats on the new life form about to present him/herself. What an awesome thing. Of course after the first three you are pobably saying, No More or you are going to break poor ol' Grandpa. LOL Hope everything is well with mom and new baby. Prayers sent.

I am doing another tank today that was super nasty. I put my heavy duty charger on this one set at 40 amps and you would not believe how much crud and crap I have gotten out of it. Nasty is the first word that comes to mind. Later, Spidey.

Those pics are the tank I did today. That tank is off an 03 Kawasaki 1500 Vulcan and it was just trashed. I had to go in through the bottom through the fuel pump plate as there was no way to get the rod in the tank without shorting it to ground due to the way the filler hole is in  relation to the tunnel on the tank. I couldn't believe this bike actually ran. I priced the fuel pump for this POS and it was $529.00. A new tank is almost a grand. I don't think the bike is worth a grand. I am going to pull the throttle body off it and clean it all out and stick a couple of new injectors in it as well as all new O-rings and seals and anything else it needs. You can't get near that bike and it just reeks from the "Potty mouth"ty gas it had in it. That last pic with the black goo oozing out of it was after round two but it sure did come out clean and in decent shape. I am really impressed with this system and again my sincere thanks to the new Grandpa, Twincamzz for posting this. My hat is off Brother. Spidey.

Little Al, The best part about the grandkids is you can also send them home with their parents when you are done spoiling them rotten and have taught them some new cuss words.
Funny story, My dad and I taught my daughter to say bull"Potty mouth". Well her mother took her grocery shopping one day not long after my dad had left from his visit. I asked her how shopping was and she said it was great except for YOUR daughter pointing at stuff on the shelvs yelling Bull"Potty mouth" Momma and pointing at diferrent things. I pleaded the fifth. LOL Spidey.

when my first grandkid was born, 7 years ago, with his other grandfather already gone I felt it was totally my responsibility to teach him all the important things in life. my daughter-in-law hates, but tolerates it, with me being the only pop-pop he'll get to know. I'm now working on the second one (he's 3)

So I've been sure to teach them:
how to spit
how to clean their hands on their pants & shirts
how to pretend to sleep then get up & play in their rooms, quietly
how to fake gag on vegetables
any many other tried & true grandpa/grandkid pass-on's.

just love that stuff!

I'm going to give this a try this week, on an old tank I'm restoring.
There's miles to go before I sleep.

I was originally going to try this on an old gas tank, but instead I decided to try it on a set of flywheels that had some surface rust.  I used baking soda after heating it up in an oven for 350 degrees for an hour.  Mixed everything up in a five gallon bucket and did one flywheel at a time.  The second flywheel is about ready to come out of the bucket now.  I had expected the rust to turn to the original metal color instead of turning black, but it still looks OK, and takes a lot less time than bead blasting.

This post just makes me ILL, everytime I see that hole with the crusty brown and black ooze coming out..  Reminds me of.....  Like I said, makes me sick.  That stuff is just not right.

Some things are just meant to be discarded.  I want to see landfills just heaping with oozing things.

Sorry.
