I took my girl friends Honda 450 Rebel out for a spin around the block Sunday night. I forgot how much fun those small bikes are. Don't think I would want to ride it for any great distance, but it certainly would be fun for short rides in town. Anyone else ride a small bike also?

Many years back, I picked up a 250 Rebel for my wife to learn on.  After some time of riding up and down our street, it was time for her to practice in the school parking lot 2 miles from home.  Between our house and the school was a hill ( uphill almost the entire distance to the school).  I decided the safest and most legal thing to do was to have her drive the car there, and I'd take the bike.  For openers, I'm 6'3" and bend the needle on the scale on the ugly side of 270.  Uphill was a joke.  That poor little bastard worked it's guts out to get us to the school parking lot and people passing me thought I was trying to give birth to a bike.  After her practice session, I drove home, forgetting at first about the hill (downhill now).  All I can say is that was about the second most frightening ride of my life.  All that bike wanted to do was pick up speed, and I about used up the brakes in the first 1/2 mile.  It was about as stable a ride as nailing a couple of roller skate wheels on a 2X4 and going down a very old ski jump.  No thanks.... I may one day opt for a bike smaller than my bagger, but I'll never go that small again.

Picked up a 2002 Vespa ET4 for my wife to ride last week.  I've never ridden a scooter before and discovered they are kind of fun!  Those small wheels make for some really nimble steering compared to my old chopper.  I bought the scooter in North Scottsdale and rode it 30 miles home on the surface streets (not gonna get on the freeway with a 150cc scoot).  I did make it up to 65mph pretty easily along one open stretch with about a mile between traffic lights.  Got a sweet deal on the Vespa (less then half of blue book) because the previous owner must have thrown it down the road a few times.  The wife wants a custom paint job anyway, so scratches and a few minor dents don't bother me a bit.

I also have a Hyosung GT-250.  It's almost more fun to push a small bike past it's limits than it is to ride a much more capable machine in the same situation.  Ray

My wifes first bike was a Hyosung GV 250. It was a great starter bike, and was a fun bike to ride.

We have a Buell Blast, that I occasionally will use for work, it gets about 60 mpg, does 70 mph for long periods, has good brakes and over all handles well - on the other hand it lacks power and is hard on the knees as it is a little too small. However, the best part about the Blast  is I can leave it sit in a parking lot and not worry about it:
Costello: When I get married, I'm going to marry an ugly girl.
Abbott: Why?
Costello: If I marry a pretty girl, she might leave me.
Abbott: But an ugly girl might leave you too.
Costello: Yeah, but who cares?

I have a 100cc that I use off road ... an absolute blast to ride and can teach you more rider skills than just about anything on two wheels.

On road I have a 250cc "dual sport" that is a riot to ride in the really tight stuff ... it has embarrassed more than a few bikes and riders in the tight stuff ... big power is not always an advantage if you can't use it.

Well, don't know if this counts, its not street legal. I took it to Lewis Town Pa. while i worked there for a year. Rented a place out in country, had lots of no traffic pavement to play on. OMG, you talk about scary. Got it up to 54 and not good on curves. Bought it to display in my man cave, trust me, that's where it needs to stay.  I look like a frog sit'n on a stick.

My enduro Suzuki DRZ 400S is a riot and gets 60 mpg.  Didn't ride it as much this year because of an injury.  But for country roads and the back way in rural country it is great.  Just down to the corner and back, catch a little wheelie, it is fun.
Drive fast, take chances

nice pic craig.....

All kidding aside...

After reading posts from a core group, I start to assume what they look like simply from what and how they post.
But Craig, I have to be honest, you had me fooled because you look like a young whipper snapper!
But of coarse next to me you are.
Being that you're well versed in Panhead's, I'd of thought you were older than dirt like me!  :horse:

Lets see some more pictures.
