Has anybody returned their radio to Radio Sound for repair/exchange?  my CD player is skipping and won't play on the first couple tracks of a CD.  I tried cleaning and hitting it with the little cans of compressed air and it will work for a couple of CD's then start acting up again.  Radio Sound wants $200 and they do an exchange with a radio/cd that has already been repaired.  got about 70,000 on this one before it started acting up so probably a fairly reliable system to begin with. thanks jeff

Had the exact same problems with my CD player on a 03 Ultra, but it was only on home burned CD's. Turned out to be the size of the disk. Only 74 min. disks would play on it, not the normal 80 min. Store bought CD's worked fine.
Have you tried a cleaning disk? Some say it doesn't work, but it does on all my players, home and car/bike.

I have done 2 stereos thru Radio Sound, both were cassette models.  1st one was on a 91 that they no longer supported on the exchange program, but by sending my old one in first they swapped the connectors over to a newer model. Last one was out of a 02 wreck I was rebuilding, case bent, face broken ect.  they won't exchange on a wrecked unit but had me send in and get an estimate before repairs. Quote was very reasonable. Both times could not be happier with there work. Both units still working as good as the day I reinstalled them. Good folks to deal with.

I have tried the cleaner with the little bristles no go.  It does it on store bought and burned Cd.  When it first started acting up it would play on brand new cds but if they were played numberous times it would skip but now it does it no matter what.  If I blow air from a compressed air can into the slot it plays great for a cd or two but then starts the skipping.  If not running it usually will play ok but as soon as you are running down the road it acts up. I am thinking the laser has come loose.

I was going to send in a headset for repair but it appears Radio Sound has had a significant price increase in their repair charges.  Headset repair went from $45 to $75.  It appeared other services went up similarly. They used to be fairly reasonable, but they may be pricing themselves out of the market.  Not sure I'm going to spend $75 just to have them put a speaker on a head set.

In 2003 bought a brand new FLHTCUI with the CD. All of my disk were home made since I owned all the vinyl.  Had the same problem, player would skip after about the 3 or forth time the cd played.  Player was changed 3 times, same problem.  Finally, someone from Radio Sound came out to see what was happening.  He rented a bike, I made dup CD exactly the same.  We road for 50 miles each way, at an average speed of 75 mph.  After about 40 miles his started skipping, after about 55 miles both were skipping badly.  He didnt have a clue.  Told dealer to replace or install a cd changer.   Dealer installed a CD changer free of charge as bike was less than a year old and they did not want to have to take it back.

Mix, try some 74 minute disks. I get mine from http://www.encoredataproducts.com/MAM-A-Mitsui-mid-19-p-1.html There are some 74 min disks out there that do not work very good (I tested a lot of brands), but MAM-A disks work very well. Haven't had one skip yet.
Before I learned about the 74 min disks (here on HTT) I sent my player in 4 times. No help. Thank heavens for HTT.
I'm like you, I have thousands of 45's and LP's from the 50's, 60's and 70's that I burn to disks. Lot better music then the crap that's out there now....in my opinion.  Good luck.

ok I got the site to come up.  Mine is a radio sound not HK and $250 is more than Radio sound charges and the warranty is the same.

I just bought a broken 2003 ultra radio off ebay, and am having the seller ship direct to radio sound.
Charge is going to be 200 bucks for a refurbished radio exchangeinc return shipping. Customer service person took info, credit card info and gave me a repair number over the phone. Only exception to exchange states damage to exterior or abnormal wear (inferred flooddamage)
