Ok I can score a killer deal on the S/E 103 stage 2 bigbore kit fom my dealer and I would install myself. My 07 Ultra currently is mostly Stock engine wise except for Andrews 26 cams and a S/E air cleaner and Thundermax ecm with Autotune.  ? is this... which is the better cam, the s/e 255 that comes with the kit or My Andrews 26 and can the Andrews 26 even be used with this kit...I want the best bang for the buck...and I have been happy with the Andrews for my riding style which is heavy 2 up alot of the time. also pull a trailer sometimes. Might also have heads cleaned up a bit also but not sure...

Is the kit under $450??  If not, you might want to just consider doing jugs and pistons..  I think its the same jugs as the 95" which you can get for $100 and the pistons, not sure on the price.

I'm not familiar with the compression range of the Andrews 26 cam, but going to 103" with no headwork will put you at approx 10.0:1 compression.  As Mix said, you may be better off just boring your stock jugs to 103" and buying a set of pistons.  That would save you some $$$ to spend on headwork, if you so desired.  The SE255 isn't a "bad" cam, but there are other aftermarket options.....and you already have one of those.

Here is an extra set of heads and cylinders.  You can get all the work done, while still riding.

Interesting to note they are California legal cams. :wtf:

fltri  one h.d. shop told us if he had them on the wall he would be fined.
maybe they are only legal if h.d. installs them & they won't sell them to
the public?  Al

Personally, I try to talk customers out of using the 255's if they are going to the 103 kit.  Too much CCP with those cams for me.  Can cause starting problems with hot starts.  I would stick with the Andrews that you have.  The kit has flat top pistons, so, you will be under 10:1.  With an intake closing of 35 degrees you should be right on the money.  I wouldn't touch the heads.  The 06 and later heads are just fine.  People mess them up more than they fix.  The cams will work just fine in the cam plate that you have.  JMO:)

Good Luck,

Thanks, the kit I am looking at is harley p/n 29903-07a  the dealer is going to credit me for the S/E aircleaner in the kit that I already have which makes the price very tempting. It doesnt come with cams so I would re-use mine. I dont think I have to worry about compression releases etc as i should be close to stock compression. I will reuse my andrews cams and if i factor in selling my old jugs then it turns out even better. I am not worried about tuning as I have the Thundermax and from what I have researched I may be able to hit 100 hp and a little over 100 tourqe... :duel:

sound about right? Would be interested hearing from those that have gone this route, also I will be doing the job myself, dealer wanted 10 hours....labor

Also contemplating a 107 bolt on kit from Hillside, E-mailed scott for info but it would be about 2x the price I think. I am not so worried about dyno numbers as I am seat of pants and long term reliability...fwiw dealer also said he would warranty parts even if I do it myself..but who knows what that means...lol

Go with the Wiseco Kit from Hillside it retails for 600$ including cometic gaskets and cylinders, he has both 10.5Cp and a 9.1, if you are not gonna change the heads slap in a TW6-6 woods ecellent torquer.

Cylindrs, pistons, gaskets etc....they are pulling out the S/E aircleaner and giving me credit towards the kit for it. I would re-use My Andrews 26 Cams . Basically one stop shopping.  its kit 29903-07a

Well thanks all for the input, After talking with Scott at Hillside i am going to go with the 103 kit from the dealer and my Andrews 26 cam. I am going to send off the Heads to have Hillside clean em up a bit and do some other mods he suggested....Now the tear down begins....This will also be a good time to do the hydraulic clutch conversion since all the parts are sitting on my workbench..... :pop: And install the new tires, and my lrb brake pads and...oh crap when will it end...lol

I had the andrews 26 in my last flh, I e-mailed andrews about the compression and I believe they said 'may ping above 9.5'  I liked it in my 03 and wanted to use it in my 07 in a 103 but was not sure after that. If it works good please let us know, I would like to use that cam again.

From what i have researched the 103 kit wont put you above 10 however I did talk with scott at hillside and told him my build and he said re-using my Andrews 26 was a great choice. says he has had great results...I also have a Thundermax ecm so If I did get ping i should be able to tune it out so to speak....I am going to have Scott do some cleaning up of my heads and do some mods he suggested for even better performance....

was one of his sugestions to open up the chamber a little to keep the compression down, or did he say it will work at the higher level?
