Is anyone running the D&D Fatcats on a touring model. I was recommended this pipe from a very reputable engine builder. He says this is an excellent pipe, with a build or no build. I was just wondering how this would compare to the Super trapp supermeg, or the Bub's 7. I'm not looking for loud, just a nice rumble. I looked through the archives and didn't find anything.

Its LOUD.

Did I tell you that it is LOUD?

Best chrome I have EVER seen on any exhaust.

Hey, I forgot to tell you it is loud.

It IS a beautiful pipe, no question about it.

I actually have become used to it.  My HERKO tune has made the pipe sound a lot better.

But... its LOUD.  Cannot use my radio anymore loud.

The Boss exhaust has a new Concentric baffle that is supposed to be very quiet. The other baffles for the Boss use a perforated core design and tend to be loud, so if you want quiet performance.............look into the Concentric baffle.

FatCat (singular)  :)

Good pipe, excellent chrome, fit and finish, but not so good sounding IMO.  Some dig the sound, others don't....the Supermeg is another good choice.

I was told about the concentric model. How does that work differently than the quiet baffles? Is the Super Trapp much quieter? I've heard that you can add or remove disks in order to make it what you want. I did hear the new Bub's 7 2-1 and it sounded very nice. How is the performance compared to the two others.

I have the concentric baffles on my Street Glide.

I can NOT listen to the radio.

D&D came out with louvered quiet baffle for Boss.  I may try this come spring.

D&D and the Supermeg are both proven performers on the dyno.  I don't think you could go wrong with either.

Hey Wurk_Truk. I didn't quite understand you. Did you say it was LOUD... or REAL LOUD.  :gob: How would you say it compares to the Rineharts true duals or 2-1. I had the true duals on a 95"er I loved the pipe, but it was quite loud. I want to have a 107 build and would like to hear the stereo.

You say the concentric pipes are too loud also. What about the Super Megs. Are they similar in loudness or are they more tuneable in that range?

Thanks

Quiet at idle, does that count?  :hyst:

That does look like a nice pipe. Quiet at idle, then what? How is it at highway speeds. I don't mind a strong bark at roll on, just looking for it to be stereo friendly at cruise. I haven't found any DB levels for this pipe. I was just running the Monster Ovals on an 08 Ultra. The db was 96. This was a quite pipe at cruise, but did have a pretty good bark to it. Still relatively quite though.

I think I can help you a little more. Let me add another comment to the pm I sent you. When I got my Fatcat it was off my buddies Ultra. When I rode behind him it was not loud at all but he was always complaining, I thought he had sensitive ears, lol. I took his Ultra for a ride and I was really shocked at how loud it was with the fairing on his bike. It was a nerve wracking very loud drone and I generally like noise. It drove me nuts and I immediately turned around and came back. I had the V&H Slashdowns with billet end caps, best sound ever. We traded and sure enough it was quiet on my Road King without a fairing, only a windshield. So.... on second thought I don't think you would like it.
