The other day I went to WalMart and picked up a $21 Torin Blackjack 1.5 ton scissor lift. The lift has a large base plate on it so it works great. I also grabbed a 2-pack of Reese Sure Step bumper pads for $7. I had a buddy weld two pieces of angle iron together to form a C-channel and weld it on top of the lift. He also welded a large Craftsman socket over the circular hook where you jack it up with a jack handle so I can use a ratchet now. I then took the bumper pad (perfect fit widthwise) and had to cut off maybe an inch on the end of it and stuck it down with the supplied backing after cleaning the top of it. Total cost was $28. Photos are attached of the finished project.

Seeing that jack there awhile back I was thinking the same thing. Just not sure how to weld the channel without messing up the pivot part of the jack. thanks for the pics.

I think I might have a sturdier plate welded on the bottom of it also.  Since the pivot points are in the middle I'm a little concerned about side to side tipping.

I did almost the same thing. I had a brand new car jack laying around. I welded a piece of channel to the top and added some angle iron to the bottom. The rubber on top is from a truck anti-spray mudflap. I glued and bolted it down. Overkill probably.
The pic is when I was testing it, before i refined it a little more. Total cost - $0

Forget the bull"Potty mouth" - it's all about two wheels and a motor!
