Anyone replace their head bolts with something other than stock ones? I hate the thought of putting my motor back together with these nasty rusty stock head bolts. I know I can buy new stock ones, but they will rust again as well. I know I can go with head bolt covers, but I'm not real big on covers. Wondering if anyone has a link to some they have bought and used and are happy with.

Chrome head bolts from your HD dealer, part # 16480-92A, order 4, about $5.00 each retail. They are OEM on '06 & up IIRC, look good and seem to hold up OK.

If you have a lot of money to spend opt for the polished stainless steel ones available from Diamond Engineering !!

Diamond Eng. does have good stuff.

Yes, those are very nice but pricey as you say. I bought some a few years ago, IIRC somewhere around $120.

06 and up do hold up fine. Had wrenches on mine at least 10 times, no rust.
