I may be able to get a SERT for cheap, just not sure what good it will do. I realize it can be used for a dyno, I just dont have the funds to pay someone hundreds of dollars for a tune and the sert.  Is it possible to tune the bike myself, like a TTS with Vtune, with a sert? Or ?  This is for an 06, 21's, 2n1.

Thanks!

You can tune the bike yourself but for best results have a tuner do it on a dyno. Biggest things since you said cheap, make sure the box is sealed.

Thats right, once installed a sert is tied to that ecm. I forgot!! Thanks! The seller seller said it has never been used. You are right though, it needs to be sealed...

If I tune it myself, is their a good chance that I would get a sop improvement over the dfo I am currently using?

Hard to say. How calibrated is your butt? Seriously tho, I have done mine over 19 or so runs after having it dynoed locally. Ran hot after the dyno so I took a stock map and started playing with it. Much better IMO now. But when I can, I am taking it to a reliable tuner. There is a ton of stuff there you can adjust, but be careful.

If the SERT is still a virgin, you could get the sensors, connectors, pins, wires, and bungs; get the SERT upgraded, and vtune it as a TTS.

You really need something to read AFR if your planning to tune it yourself, for me it was a crap shoot & a LITTLE frustrating without the meter
And having the formula to figure the VE changes would have saved me loads of time. Lots of cells to be tuned per cylinder but it can be done just don't forget to watch the traffic same time as your watching throttle position, Tach, speedo and AFR meter.
For me the next time I do a build I will tune it myself good enough to get it to a competent tuner and let him finish it up

Spoke with seller and the packaging was opened. He said he opened to check contents and that it has never been installed.  Even if it never has been used, a tuner sounds like the best approach as my "butt dyno" probably is not that good and watching traffic, throttle position, getin a tach, getin an afr meter, watching the afr meter... does not sound like a good time.

Back to the original plan of spending more on fuel management when cash allows for a 95" kit also.

Thanks everyone.

You certainly don't need to get and watch an "AFR meter" or a tach if you vtune.

No argument's there, if he was using TTS or sert up graded to TTS, did the o2 conversions and has a laptop to ride with.

Which is the only way he'd be able to vtune.
