I have a set of jugs that were cut and honed to pistons over a year ago.  I have not had a problem with the machine shop before.
Cylinders are .005" over or .0025" side clearance. Cast 103 flat top pistons.  I have been setting the pistons tighter!
I believe by the book I am at the max spec.  What do you think or suggest?

Pistons were measured with a outside micrometer on the bare metal surface.  Cylinders were measured in three places with a inside micrometer.

assuming your measuring procedure is kosher...bring 'em back to your guy and see if he agrees

if your not using a dial bore gage......don`t blame anybody yet
you can`t be accurate  measuring cyl`s and pistons like that :nix:
hardy heads the best...boy I guess

Dont forget to check temp on both cylinder and piston. Holding the piston in your hand for a short time will give you incorrect measurments.  Kinda like the wife holding something else .... it grows  :smilep:

I think .005" is to much clearance for a new assembly for street use.

I suggest you torque the cylinders properly in a set of plates, verify the calibration of your measuring tools, and remeasure. If the cylinder diameter is indeed .005" larger then the piston diameter, you have a decision to make.
