96 Fat Boy

Just bought a 96 Fat Boy. The rear cylinder seams to run rich and under acceleration about mid throttle sounds like it is misfiring. Any thoughts?  :scratch:

Put some new plugs in. Plug colour will tell if rich or not. Assuming it's a cv carb, check the diaphragm  for splits/tears. HTH. :oil:

Well congratulation! Should be a great bike. How many miles?

So... it's 20 years old. If it were me, I'd go through all of the maintenance items right away and start with fresh known good condition.

Change oil and filter.
Clean/rebuld the carb.
New air cleaner element.
Replace intake/exhaust gaskets.
Replace plugs and wires.
Check ignition timing w/ a strobe.
Check alternator output.
Lube the clutch cable, check clutch adjustment at the pressure plate.
Check primary chain adjustment.
Check rear belt adjustment.
Check brake pads for minimum thickness.
Check brake fluid levels.

Piston Broke

This is a long shot but check to see which angle the accelerator pump jet is squirting and may be twist it towards the front more?

It's brass and you can twist in in the bowl housing.

I think rears tend to due to the design. The pistons in mine, for example, was really coked up when the front was pretty clean.

Rear always runs "a little" richer on shared intake manifold due to the 315-405 degree firing cycle.
