Greetings,

I have a 2000 Road King EFI.  It has the Screamin Eagle stage 2 set up in it.  95" cc, 203 cams, SE A\C.  I've always been told by the guys at different parts counters that the Screamin Eagle plugs were not worth the extra money, so I just always bought the 6R12 HD plug 2@($8.50).  Well today I was installing new plugs and accidentally broke one.  Back to the Harley dealership I go.  In the 2010 Harley book, I found some plugs that are designed for modified engines including high flow air cleaners, cam shafts, exhaust systems.  I thought what the heck, so I purchased a set of 32192-10 SE plugs 2@($15.95).  The new plugs turned out to be a pleasant surprise.  The bike seems to start faster, idle better, and run better.  I'm just wondering if many of the HTT members here are running this plug or other Screamin Eagle plug and what experiences you have had with them.

Thanks,
James

I have run just about every plug Harley comes out with.

Stock works fine for just about all builds on the street. That said, the SE plugs usually are slightly better. Fine electrodes and premium metals make for a nice spark and less carbon build up.

Now the downside, the recommended plugs in the SE catalog are usually wrong heat range and will carbon up faster. Never had one melt from being too hot, usually carbon from not being hot enough. Stick with the stock heat range even if the catalog says a different plug and you will have less problems.

Plugs end up being like oil, whatever works for you.

Well fresh plugs will always help.. I doubt you see any measurable gains.. I've yet to buy a set of HD plugs.. Usually get Autolite, champion, NGK or Nippon Denso u plugs.. at anywhere from $1.50 to $2.50 a plug..

NGK DCPR7E std.   DCPR8E and DCPR9E is coldest.

I use NGK or Autolites.

Yes I have used them in my carbureted 99, and I think they are very good plugs.  Theoretically the fine wire does have an electrical advantage in that is makes it easier to transfer a spark.  Back in the old days they couldn't make a fine wire plug that would last anytime because the electrode would erode away too fast with conventional materials.  Some folks say these plugs can cause problems with Delphi equipped bikes, but you won't have to worry about that with yours.

When I brough my 04 FLSTFI 95'' it had SE plugs....when I went to replace them the dealer was out and claimed I should be running the stock plug in the BB kit anyhow so I got the 6R12P...plat tip...cant really say I can tell any differ.....local wrench saids plat tip should last alot longer ...of course new plugs should meke it run better as Max said

Hello,

Anyone know the difference between the new high compression plugs?

Rgs,

spunky_man

the new harley plugs are the same as the NGK Irridium plugs more or less.

Those are probably one or two heat ranges colder than the regular ones to help fight preignition/detonation.

I would say if anything they are a clone of the splitfire plug.  I run the NGK iridium’s.  They have the finest wire I have seen yet, and are real good plugs.

I am not for a minute going to say these fine wire plugs increase performance.  But what they seem to me to do is be less prone to fouling.  When I used to run stock plugs, several times my bike would begin running poorly and I would find a piece of carbon trapped between the center electrode and ground.  Since I started running fine wire plugs this has not happened at all.

I have also ran those plugs in my High compression softail, seemed to be a good plug.  I am just running stock in my 103 UC.
