I posted this in the pan section and realized I shouda put it here.  :embarrassed: Been helping a friend finish up his 57 pan and it is about ready for a maiden voyage. We were discussing tags and insurance and was wondering what other folks do to insure old bikes. This particular one is quite nice and mostly all original. Thanks.

I use Progressive, I supplied 3 photos including the engine #.

Coverage is state required liability + $15,000.00 total loss coverage including theft, 400 some $ a year, with Historic (Vintage) Tags.

There are companies that insure antique, classic, Hotrods, etc. Check your listings or contact a antique or Hotrod club. I found one in my area and was very happy with them.

Thanks for the replies. I checked where I have my 72 FL insured {Daryland} and they said they will no longer sign old bikes. They keep me cause I'm grandfathered in. I also have an antique car and truck but just put them in with the rest of my stuff at Shelter and don't really cost that much more and I'm happy with that. I'll check with the Hot Rod bunch.

I've had my antique bikes insured with J.C. Taylor for many years now. The rates are very reasonable.

Have your agent check with a company called Foremost Insurance

Just be sure it's a "Stated value", or "replacement Value" policy. That the VALUE is on the policy as well as how the value if arrived at (professional appraiser, etc.).

When I had my restored 1956 Cushman Eage I had it insured through one of the specialist antique companies.  They are in all the antique vehicle periodicals. An independent agent can help you too.  Reprice the insurance every few years because they keep slipping rate increases once they have you logged on their books.  What starts out cheap can end up not that way after you are with them for awhile.  Don't ask me how I know.

Hagerty for mt 69 XLCH. Great rate, beat the pants off Progressive.

Check with Grundy. They beat Hagerty and have no milage limit

I insure a vintage car through Hagerty and have no complaints and it is cheap. It's also an "agreed value" policy. They simply pay the agreed upon price in case of vehicle loss. I don't think it has a mileage max, but I may be mistaken. Your mileage may vary.... give them a shot though. They have a web page.

+1 for Hagerty....That's where my '69 FLH is insured...agreed value...no mileage limits...dirt cheap compared to the others for SC. Only stipulation is the bike has to live in a locked garage (or so they say).

Grundy would not write me a policy on just a bike. They said I could only add to an existing car policy.

Reddog74usa

Thats strange. I had a policy from Grundy on a bike only just this last Aug.
