I bought a bike with a braided crossover hose.  It's leaking on the left side where the nuts screw together at the tank nipple.  I've never had one off, is there an o-ring in there or is it a pressure fitting?  The nuts are tight, and when you spin the hose slightly the leaking slows.  Just want to have parts to repair, ready when I drain tank and tackle the leak.

Or do you have to replace 'em when they start leaking?
TIA

Had to replace mine.  They are just like a plumbing fitting kind of an oval o-ring in shape, if that makes sense.

When installing, dont push the tank outlet all the way into the hose fitting.  Its not a pressure fit.

Denise, did you replace the o-ring or the whole thing?  Any idea where to get one for a good price?

The dealer can look it (o-ring) up and get it for you.  I just replaced the o-ring.

I thought about getting one at HomeDepot. but figured since gasoline was involved, I wouldnt chance it.

Does anyone have the link to the guy on here that makes the quik-disconnect fuel line crossovers?

Does anybody have that quick disconnect on their bike?

I do. Works for me. I can drain the tank or use it to give a bud some gas.

I put one of those braided crossover lines on mine, it was a drag specialties line and used a felt washer between the nuts which I imagine is available from any hardware store..
I ended up putting the stock black hose back on because getting two wrenchs in there was a pia.

Can you just unhook the lines and remove the tank without draining? I imagine you should be able to.

You can on the one I have. It's an EZI-FLOW. not sure if they exist anymore.
If you want better quality the same fittings are used on aircraft. Cost a lot more though!

The one Herko sells is kind of like a small air hose quick-connect except it has individual spring-loaded valves that are held open only when the two halves are connected.  I don't know how much fuel actually spills out of it when it's disconnected, but can't imagine it'd even be a thimble-full even if you took great care to get as much leaking as you could while working it.

I have them on my FLHTI. They rock.
They don't leak but maybe a drop (at most) when disconnecting them.
I have a 2nd pair with a 3-ft hose on each for easy tank draining.
My pride is cheap, my Harley is not.

Hardley Davidson,
If you're needing an o-ring for a quick-disconnect, I just bought three sets of plastic Quik Disconnects made by CPC, from one of their industrial distributors, Isaacs Fluid Power Equipment in Indianapolis, In, 1-888-336-8501.  They're made by Colder Products (CPC) in metal or plastic.  I bought plastic.    They were very inexpensive and the company was good to deal with.

Got it fixed.  Replaced the o ring on both sides as long as the tank was dry.  The one that was leaking looked like a piece of black ABC gum!  No wonder it was leaking!!!
