how does the starter ring gear on the clutch hub come off? Looks like the pins or rivet type things could be punched out or do I have to press the whole gear of the hub to remove? I'm looking at a aftermarket ring gear from V-Twin but it says bolt on type  91-93 66teeth and I do have a 66 t assembly. The new one comes with screws will I have to tap for the new bolts and is this the way to go as long as I red locktite them in?

Drill the rivots from the gear side, drill the heads off and punch them thru the clutch hub, try not to drill into the clutch hub. You might have to tap the new ring gear on so try and start the bolts as soon as possible for a guide. Locktite

Easiest way I find is.Grind the heads off the rivets on the ring gear side.
Eliminates any chance of a drill bit walking,or being off center. You may have to enlarge the holes in the basket just a touich after removal.
