Is Cherokee, NC a dry town ? Can you purchase "booze" anywhere in Cherokee ? Planning trip to Smoky Mtns. in June.

Thanks

I can't say for sure about Cherokee, but if it is... Maggie Valley isn't and it's right up the road.  It's a beautiful area, we vacationed in the Smokies last year.  Here's a good ride not far from Cherokee: http://www.cherohalaskyway.com/
The parkway is a real nice ride as well.  Actually, about any road you decide to ride on in that area is nice.

Yes it is, and like he said , once you get off the Rez  you can find it easy.

If you`re going into Cherokee, be sure to visit Grizzlys Leathers in the main square, some real bargains in there. Take care on the road from Gatlinburg if, you`re coming up that way, the surface is cracked up and some nasty potholes on the tight curves.
Peace...those brief moments in history when everyone stands around reloading....

Actually, have been in the area several times, a group I work with wants to ride Deals Gap and stay in Cherokee, my wife reminded me that Cherokee is  dry, was just checking for sure. Cherokee is a nice place but a little more commercial, Maggie Valley where I have stayed in the past, represents the mountain atmosphere so much better, more layed back and relaxed. I like the Apple Cover Inn in Maggie Valley.

Thanks

We got booze while we were there right down the road not far out of town.

Cherokee is a tourist trap. The Casino is a joke.
Maggie Valley is much better area and a must see is the Wheels Throught Time Museum. (NOTE: it's only open on certain weekends)

When we went to Cherokee we really enjoyed it, of course it is a tourist trap but we thought it was a cool little town, that was over ten years ago so who knows what it is like now.

Been to the Wheels of Time, it is a must to see, but I thought it moved ??

They were going to move the Wheels through time but decided to stay.

If you are planning on riding the Dragon, be advised that it is closed due to a rockslide just north of the TN border.  Most of the Dragon is open but if you are planning on riding all the way thru it - that is not going to happen unless you have a rocket sled to get over the slide.

Also be advised that the police are really watching it - mostly for safety reasons as a fair number of people get hurt each year.

Enjoy it all but be careful of the crotch rockets which seem to be the main cause of accidents in the area.
We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.
