The standard HD solo seat for up to 2003 rigid mount Sportsters isn't comfy.
So I ordered a Le Pera Barebones with Biker Gel seat from Wallys Cycle World.
(MUCH cheaper than buying from Custom Chrome Europe!)
Is the new seat comfy?
Well, after 5 miles it is no worse than the HD solo seat and it is a good inch or more lower.
So far I like it and it does what I hoped it would.
Watch this space for what it feels like after 100 miles!
(The HD seat hurts after 100 miles, but then, I have a bagger for comfort.)

I was out and about for a couple of hours this morning.
The Barebones with gel is definitely better than the HD solo seat.
Some vibration came through above 80mph but nothing unpleasant or painful.
You can feel the hard gel conform to the shape of your backside as it warms up.

The seat is used with mid-mount foot controls and low handlebars.

17 mile ride into work wearing jeans instead of leathers.
At 80mph there is more vibration through the seat than when wearing leather jeans.

As for distance, got a bagger for that! But I'll try for a day out to Whitby. That would be at least 100 miles each way and I've wanted to get a photo of the house where Bram Stoker wrote 'Dracula' anyway to show Grumpy that Yorkshire has things that Florida does not!

Spring is here, I'm using the bike for commuting, done a longish day too.
100 miles is OK on the Le Pera Barebones with Biker Gel.
90mph really does have the vibes coming up through the seat.

In general the Le Pera is a YES! But do keep a comfy seat handy for a weekend or more on the road, or high speed for more than a few miles.

My main problem is can my hands stand the vibes or is a rubber mount on the cards? Should know by the end of May.
