It appears that the 5qt jugs of Mobil 1 15w-50 are no longer available............haven't seen them in about 6-8 months at Walmart.

So what is the next great deal on a full synthetic oil to use in our bikes?

$23 for that 5qt jug is going to be hard to beat, that was a great deal that will be greatly missed.

I can't find it either. :emsad:

I just saw it last weekend in the new jugs (they chaged the style) at a Wal-mart in Ohio (off of exit 187 on turnpike).  My local Wal-marts are no longer carrying it here in south-west central PA though.   :emsad:

It's still on the shelf at my local Walmarts. Might just be what's left in stock but I never see the shelf empty. I don't use it but I always look when I'm there. I'm satisfied using Valvoline VR1 50W racing oil and a Harley oil cooler.

I was in Wally World yesterday, and I asked the store manager if they had any,, she said that Wally World is no longer carring anything to do with motorcycles. Maybe just this store but no hgh preformance types of oil, not even the V Twin oil. I guess its one more step to make all Wally Worlds the same

I noticed the motorcycle section is gone. Might be true, what the manager said.

Hmmm, just bought 2 jugs last month.

Of course this is Kansas and it's usually the last place for any change to take effect. :hyst:

My local one still has the motorcycle section with the Mobil 1 v-twin oil for $9 a quart, but the automotive section has no spot for the 15w-50 at all in either 1qt or 5 qt.

Right now till may 31st Auto zone has 5 qts of mobil 1 plus a mobil extended oil filter for 29.99. The filter I get is for my powerstroke. Its usually 12.99. so you get the oil 5 qts for 17.00. Can't beat that anywhere that I have seen even blow mart. The sale ad shows 5 qt. jugs but if you brng 5 qt bottles it rings up the sale price. I am cheap... :potstir: :gob:

Walmarts in Reno dropped the 15w-50 some time ago. I havent seen it in jugs or bottles since last Fall. But the do carry the V-Twin 20-50 for $8.50 a qt I think. Our AutoZone & Kragens sometimes have the 15-50 & sometimes not.

Every now and then you get lucky.  My neighbor had a garage sale.  I rarely go to these things, but this was across the street.  What did I find, but 5 cases of 15w50.  We talked and I bought it all for $35.  A little over a buck a bottle.  I use this in my bike and my truck.  What a deal!!!

I usually buy on that deal when they have it, they sometimes do a Royal Purple sale like that too with a Bosch filter, I get the M1 filter for my bike , have been using the M1 filter for a couple years now and they seem to do the job.

If anyone out there uses Valvoline racing oil Autozone has it on sale at 50% off til May 31. Both dino & syn with a limit of 12  per person per day. I picked up a case today of the VR1 50W at $2.15 per quart. I'll get a couple more cases before the sale ends. Plan to pick up a case of 20W-50 for cold weather.

After reading all this last night, I went to my local Wally World and sure enough the lower shelf was empty of the 15w50.....dang.
I walked up and down looking at all the other oils....nada.
Last resort, I asked an attendent.
He looked, and found three jugs on the top shelf.
He said they sometimes keep it on the top shelf to bring down when the lower shelf gets empty, but someone never moved it down.
That's ok by me, as long as they have it......cost was $23.50 5 quart jug....=$4.70/qt. now.
It's here in S.E. Pa....for now.
Last year it sold for $26.00 = $5.20/qt.
Just saying.
Everyone wants to change the world but, no one wants to change the toilet paper.

There was a few of the 15w50 automotive on the shelf yesterday at the Walmart here in Manassas.

Walmart probably is getting away from motorcycle stuff because it's not moving as fast, and they don't like to stock stuff that sits for a long time. Can't blame them. They don't make money storing stuff.
Shiny side up, rubber side down.

Actually IIRC 15-50 was designed and used mainly for diesel- engine vehicles and we adopted it for use in some motorcycles because it had many of the characteristics required for our air cooled engines. Don't know what diesel owners are using now? Gas-powered have gone progressively to closer tolerances and lighter viscosity products to save energy.

Mobil 1 15w-50 is still available in 1qt jugs, but it seems that Walmart is not going to be carrying the 5qt jugs any longer or they are just not available any longer.

Amsoil 20w-50 is like $12 qt, so I guess it's off to AutoZone for that 5 qt deal........got like 2-3 oil changes to do in the next week or so.
