I know this has been covered and dont want it to get a debate started, but has anyone used the Kuryakyn #2253 setup and are you happy with it and do you have any pics of it from the side, they say it uses a spacer and I just wordered how noticable the spacer was. Their pics don't really show it too well. I ride a lot at night and there are a lot of deer in Nebraska (as everywhere)so $500 bucks for more light is cheaper than a wreck. Thanks

Thanks, I don't have to join a club at DK either to get that price.

What year and model bike do you have that you want to install this on?

YOu could install an Osram 70/65 bulb and see if that works for you instead of spending the big dollars.  I think H-D has a HID system out now and you could get that through Jenni at 20% off.

I've got one of these bi-xenon conversion kits that won't fit well on my Deuce:

Unused $175 shipped to the lower 48.

I bought my  HID kit from www.xenondepot.com
he sells to motorcycle riders from all over  get the 4300K kit it's the closest
to pure white available. he has been featured in HD, BMW, Yamaha magazines etc.

It's made a big difference and I didn't have to use the
Kuryakyn spacer and other bits and it costs way less.

I installed the ballast on top of the radio using commercial velcro to hold it in place, tapped power into the lighter power circuit. Everything fits under the faring on the two Ultras we did this on, have done my RG with dual setup and a Road king (1998) all work great and provide better light.

KenR has the Kuryakyn I think and he likes it.

The advantage to the Kuryakyn kit is the reflector is HID designed so it's beam pattern is very good.  (Just wait we'll get the  Daniel Stern don't buy HID comment coming here soon  :pop:) Ie all in one kit...

On an Ultra I would opt for HD's dual bulb setup lens, put an HID low beam only kit on the bike with an H11 bulb (that is what fits) and run the standard High beam bulb that comes with the dual bulb lens.

Frankly you'll have so much more light with the HID the high beam will
not be significant other than to light up treetops.. LOL

I woulld contact California Phil (a member here) at www.harleypartscheap.com for a good price on the Kuryakyn kit,

HD dual bulb Halogen

67864-04A Fits '94-later Electra Glide®, Road King® and Trike models, and '94-later FL Softail® models equipped with Chrome Headlight Nacelle Kit P/N 67907-96B. Kit includes mounting ring assembly. MSRP US $164.95 (call Jenny 20% off)

HD HID Kit
68094-06C Fits '96-later Electra Glide®, Street Glide® and Trike models.
MSRP US $524.95

the kits for Motorcycles for one bulb, one ballast etc are $199 but you can get a discount, I'd ask, what we did was get two people interested and split an auto conversion kit, at $199 you get two of everything and split it so you have $90 in the deal..  with the HD lens at 20% off the whole thing is under $300..

Who's Jenny??? And wouldn't that be a compromise as the HD dual bulb reflector is not designed for HID? As far as JW Speaker goes I have e-mailed them and haven't got a response (yet) as to where to buy or if I could pick it up at Germantown WI since I go there quite often. As far as Delta I looked at their website and they say theirs is not US DOT legal, are any of the HID's really legal then? I didn't think this would be this complex, now I see why the long threads.

Still no reply from JW Speaker. I am seeing the Kuryakyns listed brand new in seal box for about $400 with free shipping from sources with pretty good feedback on E-Bay. I am kinda leaning that way right now instead of piecing one together, I think I would like to have a reflector designed for HID. I don't want to be that guy that blinds everyone elso on the road because I saved a couple bucks on the reflector. Maybe that wouldn't be the case but I would rather not compromise.

ThumperDeuce

Keep in mind that the unit from JW speaker is not HID for both High and Low beams.

How much is the one from JW Speaker? Does any of them that come with a reflector lens have high and low HID?

Nebraskarider1

I called JW Speaker and they had none in stock and it takes 4 weeks to manufacture, they referred me here: http://www.oviedosafetylights.com/Motorcyle-Products/JW_SPEAKER_Model_8100_DOT_Approved_HID_Motorcycle_Headlight     I like the looks of it and all but don't want to wait 4 weeks and wonder how long it takes for a bulb. Just FYI, if anyone else wondered where to get them.

The HD dual bulb is HID designed, it's the one that comes with the HID kit from HD.

Click Here to See HD's HID Dual Bulb Kit

Rode Macs 06 CVO last night with it after changing out the brake lines to new Chrome-ite SS lines (longer for new bars) and the pattern is great...

You can go many ways, HID kit in stock bulb, Kuryakyn, HD Kit.

So far all the ones we have done are in both HID designed reflectors or stock HD reflectors
and the beam patterns work.   The Dual  Bulb reflector does put out a good wide flat white
beam..

I wouldn't wait 4 weeks, too many options...

Did you call Phil (member here with Indy shop) www.harleypartscheap.com ?

wow those are so cheap its scary but worth a try. I heard the patent has run out on ballasts so prices would be coming down a bunch. Thanks!!!

Just so you know, most HID kits are single or low beam only, it's one reason why the dual bulb housing
is a good idea, you can buy a single HID low beam (H11 works in the HD dual housing), in fact you can put two H11'is in that bulb, but you have to run two ballasts, so buy a full car kit.

Then you have HID low and High.

Mostly the HID low will be more than enough light for you as it's so far past where
the halogen is today on a motorcycle you don't really need High Beam

If you run a single bulb housing like an H4 you either run a low beam only (again no big deal)
or, get a BI/Xenon which gives you high low capability...

ThumperDeuce

Like I mentioned earlier I have a dual hi/low HID kit for sale.  It refocuses the HID beam so it is a true dual HID system.  Unused for over $75 under my cost.
