When my wife went to walmart I asked her to see if there was any Mobil 15/50 or 20/50 on the shelf. She called me and said they didn't carry anything higher than 10/40. She said there was an oil called spector or spectrum 20/50. Has anyone heard of this oil and is it any good for the bike?
Thanks, Kik

Sorry Once again I don't listen before I speak...The name of the oil brand is Super Tech. Sorry.

Scooterfish

That`s the Wally world house brand. Not sure who makes it. I do know that just like the Mo Co Wally world doesn`t make it`s own oil.

I have used Super Tech in my truck.  Works fine.  The Super Tech oil filters are one of the best even though they are less then $3.  They have metal end caps and a high quality filter media.  Cross over from Fram to get the right filter.

I keep up with a local car club made up of mostly college kids, alot of them engineers.  They like to build engine, turbo/supercharge this and that, cranking up the hp in their rides.  More than once I have heard one of them say he used the Super Tech synthetic and proclaimed it to be a quality oil...Funny thing I have never seen any bickering about what oil is "best" like you find nearly every day on a HD board.

I have used the super tech 15~40 in my diesel trucks, do a google search on super tech oil, more info then ya need, nothing wrong with it.

Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not it should be used in the bike?

The super-tech 20W50 will be ok with a super-tech 3614 oil filter.. change every 3000 miles...

The oil is a CITGO product. Very Good oil. I use another in my rides, but would not be concerned about using this product.

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll go look to see if they still have their motorcycle section before I try a new brand of oil.

I use Brad Penn, it's by far the best out there and the price is very reasonable. JMO

Here is a little info on it...

The Brad Penn Penn Grade 1 High Performance Oils contain the higher level of anti-wear (ZDDP â€" zinc dialkyldithiophosphate) and enhanced film strength so critical to proper high performance engine protection. The Penn-Grade 1 oils “typical” 1,500 ppm Zinc (Zn) and 1340-1400 ppm Phosphorus (P) content provide the needed anti-wear protection to critical engine parts, such as piston/cylinder walls, roller cams under heavy valve spring pressure and especially those that employ a solid “flat tappet” type system. As important as the chemistry is to the Penn-Grade 1 oils, it is by no means the whole story. The unique base oil cut used to refine the Penn-Grade 1 High Performance Oils maintain a tremendous affinity to metal surfaces. This naturally occurring “metal wetting” characteristic enables the oil to stay put on your highly stressed engines and makes the Penn-Grade 1 High Performance Oil resist slinging for an extended period of time. Also, rest assured in knowing that the Penn-Grade 1 High Performance Oils are 100% Made in the USA.

Toatlly sucks, yes. But all of us that drive or ride do just that too. USA gets most of its crude for refinment to gaso from the same country!
