TMax DBW

I was at Thiels yesterday and saw them playing with the DBW.  I think it will be released very soon for the public.  The boys over there seemed impressed, and I MAY have to rethink my position a bit.  I will be watching how that works out for the TMax crowd.

You can't buy that yet.  They pulled it off the market in April because of software issues, and now those issues seem to be about fixed.  AT least that is how it was all explained to me.  There are a couple dozen out there, that they installed in rallies, etc in April, and that's how they discovered these things.  You COULD order one... you think Zippers is going to pull the website?  But GETTING one is a different animal completely in May and the first week of june.....

All for only $1000!!, a learning curve, and a way to develop a relationship with a mfg's tech service.
Nothing quite like replacing the entire engine management system then having an issue out on the open road. Who ya gunna call?
Hopefully someone will buy one and let us know how the TBW interfaces with the T-max system. Will the owner be able to reprogram how the TBW operates like with TTS? Will it be a Speed Density system like the Delphi system replaced? Or will it still be the old alpha-n system that has no load varying timing and fuel? What about knock sensing?
Hopefully they've updated the technology....especially for the $$$$ they are asking.

Im a Delphi guy thru and thru.  I asked about throttle blade control, etc... nope.  Still same ol TMax.  Straight from the 70s.  Wouldn't own one if free. Was told I could sell my TTS AND ECM on Ebay and buy this?  HAHAH!!!  Right.... I'm gonna jump right on THAT!

But MY concern has always been the DBW itself.  OEMs have problems with DBW!!!(Toyota)  And MY thought was I would NEVER have a TMax on MY DBW bike.  NEVER.  And... I have stated THIS repeatedly.

THAT is what I may re-think.(for the folks from the 70's I may have pissed off in the past)  Looks like Zippers is paying close attention to THIS one issue.

And... reporting what I am hearing from folks that already have half a dozen pre release units out in the field.
