RK FENDER

Hi Guys...

A friend ordered a new front fender as his had some minor dings from car doors and what not falling on it in a crowded garage. Since he wanted to keep his bike as original...he soon discovered that the painted fender he got was slightly different in that the bracket that attachs to the forks are more like the ones on the newer models. Other than that...everything fits and looks right. However for a painted fender that costs just under 900 dollars!...he rather have the older constructed fender...Yes he could have repaired his fender...however matching the paint and the throught of having bondo on it did not appeal to him...

Your thoughts or opinions appreciated...

EXACTLY what did he order?
What painted-part number?
If he ordered the wrong part he is probably stuck with it.
If they supplied the wrong part then he should take it back and say it is the wrong part I want my money back please.

HD do like to stick those -A's and -Bs on the end of part numbers to indicate a change. Perhaps he didn't pay enough attention when he was told no it's an 'A' part number now?

PC...He ordered 03RK anniversary painted fender in the color to match...
After recieving the fender... he called...(milwaukee)...and was told that the new style fender was all that was offered.

When talking to Milwaurkee...he first talked to a guy that understood parts...then got passed on to some young lady...called a'case worker' didn't seem to know about motorcycles.

I'm a sad old fart and check everything I am told and buy the parts books. But that's just me..

Did some quick calling...the fender made in 2003 was 59087-00 which as then replace by 59087-00A...and now 59087-00B.

Talking to a local parts guy...thats the only fender one can get now...as it indicates the first fender is no longer manufacutured...

The 59087-00B is all that's available out of Milwaurkee, but I'd bet there's 59087-00 and 59087-00A on dealer shelves around the country, just have someone else paint it.

Have your dealer check, he can.

That is just a pic I have, it's prime paint, I'm sure a good dealer would look on their HD Intranet to find one somewhere in the country/canada for you.
