If ya stop to consider the (violation) that started this deal,  it's difficult to support that level of response from a cop......reacting to a female,  whether she was an intruding bystander/friend or whatever.

Objecting to a jaywalking charge will get you punched out by the local cop..........Seems to me he could have contained the situation without resorting to throwing punches at a female (to boot)

What is it the we don't get?  We understand that cops tend to look at any given situation from a completely different perspective than you do.  We get that some people just absolutely refuse to believe that MOST cops are good, decent people trying to support a family.  We get that you expect us to behave, on and off duty, in a manner that earns respect and projects professionalism.  And we get that letting our guard down at the wrong time with the wrong guy might get us killed.  So we tend to keep the guard up and hang with those we know and trust.  We get it.  You don't like us because of what we do.  You'd rather be a cop hater than take the time to actually get to know one of us.  We get it.

Of course you would have!! they were young girls, anymore than that and you would have to call for back-up and break-out weapons!! cause you such a stud in them B.D.U's
Most cops are just drawing welfare with a car and a gun!, sucking off the public dole and getting their 30 yrs in.

Tsani

And there are plenty of "you" who don't try to get to know "us". We get it too. And yes, I do tend or try to think that most LEO's are decent people trying to earn a living. But, just like in the MC world, we are judged by the screw ups. And your issue in that regard is even worse I am sorry to say because you choose to be in a position of serve and protect. I have socialized with many Leo's and attended many events of theirs. One thing I have noticed is that many just don't know how to let go of the job and their attitudes. I have had to remind family members, hey , your off the clock, get it? You want the trust and respect, earn it. You kick a dog around because you can, he will fear and it may seem like respect, till he gets the chance to bite you. Just like certain "bikers" who came into our bar and acted like tough little Sh#Theads. When they picked a fight with the wrong crowd, we let it go down. No help. And I have seen that very thing happen with LEO's as well. Sorry, just because your a cop doesn't grant you respect automatically.  How do you think it looks when your buds brag about running 90 in a 55 on their bikes or cars cause they are cops? How do you think it gets viewed? It's no different than the Movie Stars or Politicians who complain they are held to a different standard than the public. That's what happens when you step into the publc light. You do get get judged by your arseholes. Sorry. That's life in the big city. And by the way, the same can be said for our military. Look at how the rest of world looks at them. Same deal. If your a decent cop, great, thanks. But what do you want from me cause you just got what you deserve. A thanks. Now go straighten out the arsehole cop that is giving you a black eye and let the public know about it for a change. An old saying that is a favorte of mine:

A man said to the universe, Sir I exsist. However, replied the universe. The fact has not created in me a since of obligation!!

Kinda fits here too!

A person told me yesterday that Americade in Lake George is all done, due to the reason that over the last few years it has turned into the law enforcement trap. He told me that it will be moving to the next town 10mi north where they want the rally , not just a johnny law trap!
Hopefully this is true, trying to find out more on it.

BTW Stro. For the record, I don't hate cops. I believe society needs laws, rules and order for it to work to the benefit of all. But it needs to be applied to everyone. It comes down to who is watching the watchers. One last thing and I will let this go. If LEO's want to run around playing bad azzes on their bikes, then they should just give up their job and play bad azz. The public doesn't see the difference and it isn't helping. Guys like the blue Knights and Crusaders were and are for the most part pretty cool about how they present themselves. The others are just mixing the message up. We had a LEO here that was a bit confused about it. Now he is not an LEO anymore.  Shame. Had a good job, but the department insisted he tow the line and he couldn't handle that anymore. If your an LEO Stro, I wish you well. Keep your eyes open, your mind clear and fair and have a heart.

As for the Americade, it's a money grab. I am willing to bet that a few of the LEO's doing it don't care for it but hey, politics rule their jobs these days. I would fight the ticket and shove it down their throats via the newspapers when I was done. But thats me. They are betting on the fact that you are from out of state and wont or can't fight it. Shame there isn't an option to to deal with it via the mail. And in all fairness to the cop, there is really no way for him to know that the helmet is legit. And even the manufacturer will tell you that you  are due for an upgrade on that lid. Just sayin.

I never said that he doesn't like his job. If you have a chip on your shoulder about police, that's your problem.

Let me get this straight. I say some cops are good, some cops are bad, just like members of any profession. You say your kid is a good cop, so I should change my opinion. I disagree, and decide to stay with my original opinion, which I thought was pretty moderate and level-headed. Now I have a chip on my shoulder about cops? Please explain to me how this works.
Dan, he's just a bit over-sensative on this issue. :hyst:

Been reading this thread and its kind of interesting. I really don't buy into the fact that Law enforcement doesn't try to bulk up on violations at the rallys. Been to enough of them to know better. Leaving Austin (ROT) last weekend there were cops everywhere on Sunday morning and quite a few bikes pulled over. Sure some might have been speeding, but hell I had cars blow by me like I was standing still. In my area the county Sheriff dept has been doing traffic duty in addition to the DPS. Now it doesn't take a PHD in finance to figure that State and Local governments are hurting for funds. So I chalk up to the added traffic policeing as revenue gain for the city, county, and state. Good Cops , bad cops well its just like people some good people some bad. Can't generalize on that subject , most cops you yes sir them and don't show your ass and they will be cool. But I have met some that I knew if I questioned their authority / that the situation would turn to crap quick. I went down to ROT (which by the way I believe was way down this year) and just rode the hills. Too much of a dog and Pony show.

I rode through jessup co georgia, stopped to get a burger and a beer, when I walked out the deputy told me my headlite was to brite, my bars were to high, my pipes were to loud and to top it all off my bike was to low to the ground?? my bike was parked  after a little over 500 bills and the nite in jail for lack of funds ,, I got to leave. I live right here in good ole new york, never had a cop harrass me , but then I don't act like an ass, the problem comes from the wannabe, you know who you are, the rice rocket crew that like to bring the frontend up and go as fast as the bike will take them,, and then the harley dudes, oh boy look out, you got your shiney exspensive bike with your loud pipes that you want everyone to hear who you tryin to impress?? try actin normal and I bet you wont be harrassed, I have a chopped 69 fl, a 1980 bobbed sporty with shotguns, 03 softail chopped and a 08 heritage,  I spent 4 years in lockdown so trust me I hate cops, just act normal and be yourself, if you like attention your gonna get it

If you guys want to go to a rally that doesn't have many police, at least I didn't see hardly any in the last three years, go to the Outer Banks Bike Week in April next year. If you go through Virginia keep it at the speed limit and no more than 5mph over or they will get you, and no, I haven't got a ticket there. So far Outer Banks Bike Week has been good, no problems from the locals.

I was there at the Outer Banks this year. Kinda chilly need that run in may like when Myrtle Beach is. Went with a big group we all had the same patches no hassle from the cops at all. I think the cops are still trying to feel the bikers out. As for the ride down and back I don't think I saw 1 cop. Kept the speed to no more than 10 over in VA.

40 years ago I was an 18 year old kid sitting out in front of the tavern with my buddies sipping a beer that we could always find someone to buy for us. My best friend Don and I were the Harley riders and there were usually 6 to 8 bikes lined up there. Small midwest Iowa town that contracted with the county for town patrol. When the Deputies would cruise by and eye us we would usually give them crap like " what are you looking at , jerk, we aren't doing anything wrong".

Flash ahead 20 years and now my friend is "Deputy Don" and I managed a large firearms store that was a supplier to the local PD and Sheriffs Dept. We also had an indoor range where I helped instruct concealed carry applicants in firearms proficiency. Got to know a lot of the PD officers and Deputies and quite a few of them rode so spent quite a bit of time riding with them. Most were real decent guys and a few were real macho jerks. Surprise, surprise, just like the rest of us.

My friend Deputy Don finally talked me into riding with him a few nights a week. About the 3rd time I rode with him we cruised main street in our old home town and sure enough out in front of the tavern sat a bunch of teenagers with their bikes lined up. ( only now they were all sportbikes) As we cruised by real slow they started giving us garbage and flipping us off and I can remember thinking out loud. " friggin' punks, wonder what kind of trouble they're up to. They're all drinking and I bet none of them are 21." My friend Deputy Don started laughing and said " kind of makes a big difference which side of the window you're looking through, doesn't it. "

That remark of his has stuck with me over the years and although my " old fart reminiscing" may not mean much to anyone else, it has always helped me to try and understand and respect the other guys attitude and actions about most situations by remembering that , yeah, it does make a big difference depending on which side of the window you're looking through.

Money, Money, Money, Monnney ! ( Tax revenue ), that is what it is all about!
Helmet, Seat Belts laws are about that! They cover their A$$'s with claiming their about your better wellfare... That's B.S.!
If you had a helmet on your head, they should of left it alone!
That is since they have a helmet law..

Rallies as described are about revenue for the cities that have them, and not the "Good" revenue that one would expect. They know full well they can and do take advantage of a perfect setting! Like Vultures over the kill,,,
Same can be said for car show / rallies!
Friend went to Wiscosin Dell's with his Mustang, did a small burnout chirpping the tires, bam, they were on him instantly, Bam, $ 500 Plus ticket! Even people running lockers or spoils get pulled over for their tires chirping while turning corners... bam $500 ticket!

Not worth the potential aggravation if you ask me!

But hey, Keep voting these pantie waste Libs in, you won't be able to even ride your bike anymore with the $7-8 plus price their looking to get for a gallon of Gas!

Don't believe it, Lake George makes more $ for that week then they do all year combind...it's made for a rally perfect setting, beautiful geography, has all the motels and restaurants and bars you could want.  They do a check every year, I haven't been "caught" in one in over 10 yrs and I go every year... police trap?  totl lBS... and it ain't going anywhere...

I think you just proved the point of those on this site who evidently have a deep love police...you don't even know the 2 people in the video but they have already classified them as animals...so before retirement everytime you saw a black female you thought they were animals...evidently violence and force is about the only way some deal with a situation....Jay walking ????  Cops are like pitbulls, althey are all nice and friendly one second but don't turn you back.....

I would imagine he based that statement on their actions, not their skin color.  They certainly acted like animals.
