Was there something wrong with the old Glide Pro Stabilizer?

He changed something on the offset and no longer using the stock insert he replaced that with a softer urethane one. It is on the website and I stubbled on to it yesterday and it made sense to me.

As soon as I get it and install it I will let you know.

Cost?
What's the cheapest place online to get it?
I'm interested in that, and doing the rear bushings in the swingarm as well......45000 miles and she's due for some maintenance.

I bought both my sets a couple of years ago the old style.I just recently went w/ the new pucks on one of my bikes. Its hard to tell how much better the new style is compared to the old style as it was a great improvement over stock.I have about 600 miles on the new pucks and still observing.I have installed a half a dozen kits in other peoples bikes and all love it.

After getting to the point in the video where he talks about the up and down motion of the stock setep vs. his product I started to get interested. I currently use a Bagger Brace which has helped considerably with the side to side motion. I'm looking forward to hearing more feedback from people who have used these new bushings.

Edit: I went back and watched the video on the motor mount install and thought maybe I had my -79D HD mount in upside down (12:07 into it) . Nope, from what I could see the one he took out was in upside down (I hope).

FWIW:

I've been running the Glide-Pro in my '03 FLHTI for 3 years now.

It's design intent (as I understand it) is to fill the hole in the stock rubber isolator with a urethane insert to prevent the swingarm from flexing laterally, which puts the rear wheel temporarily out of alignment with the frame/front wheel, resulting in, "bagger wobble." Seems to work for me anyway.......

It consisted then of a redesigned swingarm shaft, urethane inserts, and shaft end nuts.

I started with the green/yellow inserts, upgraded to the black ones when they were released, then added the front motor mount last year.

The latest evolution of the product is to eliminate the insert completely, in that the stock isolators have been redesigned with the insert as part of the isolator. It's now a one-piece item, no inserts to put in, you just replace the stock isolator with the GP isolator and you're done.  I'm currently awaiting arrival of the new isolators to arrive and I'll pull the black inserts and stock isolators and install the new ones.

From Day 1, the ride was tremendously improved, much like the firm, planted feel you get with any other motorcycle that has it's swingarm conventionally mounted to the frame in bearings. I could feel the difference as I sat on the bike and just let it slowly roll backwards out of my shed and down the ramp to the ground. The ass end just felt "tight", not sloppy as before the install. No additional vibration transferred to the frame either.

After installing the newer black inserts, the ride just got even firmer. Now, I know one of you out there is saying to himself, and wants to say to the rest of us (and just might anyway), "If it's so good why does it need upgrading?" I'll answer that later.......

After adding the Glide-Pro front motor mount, I gave it 200 miles to "settle" and lose the initial buzzing of a new piece of urethane,  and everything after that has been "smooth."

Now, I regularly throw this bike into corners at 65+ with no fear of it losing it's track.
I just lay it over and point it where I want it to go, and THAT'S where it goes: where I put it, not where it wants to go.
There's no"snaking" of the back end, it's as if it was bearing mounted but with no vibration. Very cool.

Granted, she ain't a sportbike, and I don't try to ride her like one (much), but since I installed the Glide-Pro, the "bagger wobble" that was prevalent before the install has disappeared COMPLETELY.

Later is here.
As with any product produced for the masses, it typically can get better. Just fact.
There's always investigation, tinkering, testing, engineering and design changes, all of which lead to a better product.
Don't even try to tell me that you don't get sucked in my New and Improved, we've ALL been bitten by that at one point in time...

Hence, you see the evolution: yellow inserts, then green inserts (firmer), then black inserts(even more firm), followed by replacing the entire H-D isolator (rubber doughnut with a metal washer impregnated into it) with the insert molded into it.

As a satisfied Glide-Pro customer, I'm just telling you what it's done for me and my ride.

Not tryin' to sell the product either. People like what they like, and will buy what they want, but anytime you can get some firsthand info about a product, the better prepared you are to make the decision.

Someone wanted some info, there it is.

Just my .02, hope it helps someone somewhere somehow someday.....
My pride is cheap, my Harley is not.

Just ordered the Velva-glide (Similar to Glide Pro) front mount for the FXR as mine is shot-hopefullty the urenthane from China works beter than OEM rubber from China...

Deye76

pwmorris, I think you'll have a tight smooth package with that motor mount and a Carlini Tq arm, if you don't already have one.

Took my bike out for a day of riding with the new Velva-Ride front mount and I like it-I can finally see out of the mirror, ride is much smoother, and I have more room between the front exhaust and frame downtube. So far, so good!

Installed a new Glide-Pro front mount Wednesday.

Three years ago, I replaced the stock front mount in my '02 Ultra as a preventive measure.  Immediately noticed that the new mount from HD was harsher.  Kept waiting for it to smooth out over 25K miles.  It never did.

The Glide-Pro mount material is definitely a little softer than the black rubber in the HD mount.

Does it smooth out the engine vibrations?  Well, yeah.  It doesn't feel quite as harsh.  I took a video, before and after.  Held the camera off and on the handlebar.  I report, you decide.

(I think the handlebars shake just a little less. . . and the shaking feels softer)Stock versus Glide-Pro Front Motor Mount

Mine smoothed out great. The front motor mount I torqued to  12 foot pounds and that helped out.

That center bolt was the only one I could properly torque.  There's no way to get a socket on any of the others.  (or at least I gave up trying).  I'm sure I got them plenty tight; hopefully not over-tight.

Eglider05

I just put a front mount on last weekend. I had some vibes in the fairing and mirrors I was trying to get rid of. The mount swap took away the mirror shake and half the vibration from the fairing. I pulled the fairing and discovered both main fairing supports were cracked. Fixing those should take care of the rest of the problem.

The center one is what you really need to be concerned about.
