Hi Guys...i 've got a low profile seat...that is a hard ride.... anyway...so i am thinking of taking it to a seat shop and having it rebuilt...What is the best or most popular material (foam) ? I heard memory foam on one post...Thanks in advance...

I never believe in having a seat re-built or adding gel.  By the time you pay all that money, you can add a little extra and just buy a Corbin or Mustang seat....  Keep you rock hard seat for when you sell the bike and re-sell the better after market seat.

just my 2 centavos...

What he said.  Been there, done that.

My Corbin seat is hard! Much like a horse saddle. BUT the longer my butt is in it the more comfortable it seems to be! And no it is not softening up. When I stop for gas it still feels hard.....but it works better for me than the standard flhri seat.

I use a Mustang solo on my FLHT, sat on it for 10 hr days and can't complain about an overly sore arse.

I know people that have used Mean City Cycles for rebuilding seats, said they were the best. They loved their seat, had fast turnaround. They build it to your specifications.

I myself being happy with the HD Sundowner Seat, and so is my lady.

We had a stock seat rebuilt by Russell Day Long Saddles. It is a custom designed to your size, weight etc. We tried Mustangs and Corbin's but this has been best for our dresser.

Thanks for the replies Guys... So far i have purchased four seats...not counting the stock seat that came on the bike (FLHR)... the last seat purchase was on impulse...

So that's why i was thinking of rebuilding one to taylor fit... :pop:

ps...the last seat i bought impulsively was the rock hard one...

I have no experience other the a couple of short rides on my previous bike a 99RK & my brothers Sporty with rock hard seats, IMO they look good & that's where it starts & ends.

The best riding comfort aftermarket seat I have had is a Mustang .

The stock OEM 2005 seat on my FLHT is also arse friendly and provides amble support for the long haul.

The other thing that is mandatory for me with my arthritis & back disk issues is my drivers back rest...I never leave the house without it an absolute must for me.

I rebuild seats all year long. The cost of puting gel in is far less than buying new. While I'm at it I custom fit the seat to them. It's still less than a corbin or mustang and it fits and is comfortable for the long ride.
