Quick question.  I've read a ton about polishing and have done my share of it on aluminum and stainless steel.  I'm wondering what those professionals that do new as cast cases like from S & S, Delkron, Ultima use for starters when doing those quality castings.  Is it necessary to start by sanding or can you go right to the wheel with a particular compound?  I've got a new Eastwoods 1hp polisher that's awsome at bringing back those old aluminum parts.

I polished a virgin or two when I was a young man but the casting in aluminum thing is way kinky.....better not get caught...... :hyst:

sand it first and get the holes out of it...then use black rouge followed by white

I have first started with wet dry sandpaper 1st 600 down to 1500 wet then try polishing with the rouge Then finsh with crome polish

I might just give that Black stuff and Sisal wheel a try and see what it does.  This case I have is very fine cast almost like blasted finish.  I find the sanding most tedious and have done that on sportster rocker boxes and newly cast cam covers. The most aggressive compound I have now is the brown tripoli.

Thanks guys.
