I lost the crank in my flhtc on my first ride in early April. The engine was rebuilt with an S&S stroker crank, new pistons, oil pump, VT3030 cam and had the SE heads fitted with comp releases. I fired the engine for the first time tonight and it fired instantly.  :teeth: Now I have an issue with the battery (it's always something) :banghead:. Leaving Monday 8/2/10 for the Black Hills for two weeks, wish me luck. Hope to see many of you out there at the Meet n Greet.

try to get some break in miles on that before you get in 100 degree+ traffic jams in sturgis

I completely agree with Prodrag1320.  You really need to put some break in miles on that engine before you go.  I've seen cylinders where it looked like the piston had come close to seizing at the bottom of the spigot (you could see bands that looked like the rings - in blue and yellow at the bottom).  Let the engine get some miles on it before you encounter steep grades, traffic, and high heat.

What is your battery problem?

10-4 on the break-in miles.
The Daytona Beach, Main St. parade, is not friendly to fresh engines either. :smilep:

Maybe find a local shop with a dyno to do the break in and ensure that the jetting is correct.  We are in the middle of a replacement S&S 96 inch crate engine swap and he too wanted to take it to Sturgis. I told him it was not a good idea until he got some miles on it. Sitting in traffic or just running the engine in a very small rpm range for miles on end,... either one not the best idea.
