How do you go about lowering the azz end of a Soft Tail?
Is there a special bracket or what?

The wife is 5 ft, 3 inches and wants to be flat footed at a stop.

Why are women so picky?  Takes away from my 2 hours a day tinkering with MY bike!  :wtf:  :bike: :bike: :bike:  :teeth:

I think there are special shocks to lower a softail. When I lowered the rear of my wife's Dyna I also slid the front forks up in the triple tree about an inch so the bike sits level again and she is flat footed. Harley also sells a "reach" seat which is designed with a narrower front portion and probably less padding to help the ladies sit lower. My wife is 5'2" and I have had to make adjustments on all 3 of her bikes that she has had. Once I get her right I can go back to working on my bike.

Lowering a ST is fairly easy, the shocks must be removed and a light duty press utilized,...The stock shock extensions are removed and longer extensions installed, reassemble, install and adjust to desired height, stock to -2inches....keep in mind at -2 inches the front end can get a little squrrley(sp)...I recommend lowering both end's.......

You can check fleabay for price and availability, some are pretty overpriced IMO

First things first. Get her boots with thick soles and heels. Then rebuild or replace the seat to get her closer to the ground. If she still needs more then go ahead and do the suspension work.

also keep in mind when you lower the bike you will be effecting the turning and handling of the bike as well.

Quoterebuild or replace the seat

:agree: best thing you can do.  I must ask-is this a Deluxe if so my 05 already had a 1" lower shock.  I put a corbin on it that was much narrower toward the tank.  after doing this, my wife could sit almost flat footed on it at 5" tall with thick boots of course.

C and C Seats will lower her and not break the bank. Very god quality. You can find used Deluxe shocks, these are the HD Lowering shocks, for $75-100. This will lower the seat 3/4". Some use a bolt kit.  Cheaper, just more work. Or show her some love and get Progressive 422's which are adjustable. Better yet, air ride... lol

One thing to think about, lowering the bike will cause her to scrape more.

I put on Progressive Airtail system without the compressor! Alittle money but I like it!!

On the next tire change go with a lower profile, every little bit helps.
