Anyone ever been there?  Supposed to be good pie?  Looks like it's a little west of Socorro, NM which is mega hot this time of year, but weather.com says it will be in the mid 70"s....  is it the mountains/foothills?  I thought that whole area was desert...(??)... Is it even worth the trip?

Great place for pie and ice cream.. I believe 3 Calif. ladies open that place up. We found that place after visiting that place with all those big Sat. dishes pointing towards the sky. Can't remember the name of that place. I'm sure it will come to me during my sleep. :banghead:

You have to do that and make Datil and Mogollon.  That is a hell of a road to Mogollon.  I did it after a hell of a rain.  Glenwood ........ I had to stay the night there.  Old times, no  cell service, no phone in the room, just a small shower, okay bed and quiet.  the bar across the street was so hot that we just sat out back in the shade.  Hit the park and do the catwalk. Shove your pistol in your gear and do it.

Thanks guys... didn't want to go thru the desert if there was no dessert !!!  Crazy Joe, thanks for the link. I had found other links, but weren't very informative. Sounds like a good "go just to go" trip.

TweekmyTwin  are you thinking of the VLA?

Back in the mid-80s I was passing by the VLA.  Stopped to take some pictures and got to the end of the roll of film.  Took a minute or two to change that out and snapped a couple more.  When I got them developed I noticed that the antennas had all done about a 180 in that short time.  Pretty amazing considering how large they are!
